Good point. Now that I think about it, maybe he knew if he told me TMAC was the guy I was gone anyway The inability to see that the passive penalty kill was a disaster and the refusal to adjust it as it continually got burned was one of my biggest gripes.

Niemi is an average goalie. Good goalies get first rounders.

Yea, I would think that Niemi would get at least a late first if you count his value as a starting goaltender. It's not like he's a Mason or Dipietro.

Niemi's not going to be worth the 19th overall pick. The only other pick that could conceivably be dealt for him is New Jersey's pick if they don't forfeit it, which is highly unlikely. Every other pick from 20 on back is a team not going to trade it for a goalie.

A Tampa fan said he would give up the 37th and their 3rd.

You guys need to stop fantasizing about trading Nemo already.

When the whole team loves the guy, and when he plays good, he is unbeatable.
He isn't going anywhere until he is clearly outplayed by someone, and when we have a competent backup we can bring in.

There is just no possibility that will happen until the last year of his contract.

The same could be said about Nabokov 2 seasons ago.

I already have. I've replaced them with fantasies of being roomies with chris hemsworth, ryan reynolds, and bradley cooper. we would watch sharks games and they would show up at the tank and turn it into staples north

Well, Toskala and Bell got the 13th overall and a 2nd and Kipper got us a second when he was considered the 3rd string. I would think that Niemi, who is, by the numbers, an average but "clutch" goaltender with surprisingly comparable numbers to Nabokov and I thought Nabby was better. Anyways, I'd have to think Niemi is at least worth a 1st rounder or a 2nd +. Also don't really care if he goes or not, just discussing value.

The whole deal I worked out with him was:

Tampa gets
Niemi
SJ 7th 2012

SJ gets
Min 2nd 2012
TB 3rd 2012
TB 6th 2012

I thought it was fair.

Do you play D often in OTP? You were like Dan Boyle out there.

Ben freaking Bishop got a 2nd round pick from Ottawa, and Nemo is much more valuable than him.

That's not fair at all. "If" the Sharks decide to trade Niemi, it has to be for a top prospect or a 1st rounder. Minimum.

Off topic but, pretty hilarious in NHL 12 the Colorado GM says he'd be cheering in the streets for the trade of Handzus for McGinn

Nemo probably could get a 1st. Ottawa was desperate since they had just lost Anderson to injury.

They always say it is in their favor. They will say "I think that is a very fair trade" if you accept their proposals.

No way he fetches a top prospect. He is an average goalie. He could get a mid to late 1st probably.

McGinn wasn't traded for Handzus. He was traded for Winnik and Galiardi. Winnik might've been one of the best players in a Sharks uniform during the playoffs IMO.

I think that's more the value we're talking about. However, if I'm DW, I wouldn't trade Niemi anyway.

I know but many people would want that trade back in some cases because of how hot McGinn got when he got on the Avs, and then people also want the buyout of Handzus.

Washington got a 1st AND a 2nd rounder for Varlamov, and he's pretty average too.

Hardly. Varlamov is going to be very good. Besides, the consensus is that the Avs overpaid. Nobody's gonna make that mistake again.
