I think they might not play up to 100% and take it more lightly, but if they would like to loose they are doing a bad job at it with the current 2:1 .
They know they will either play red hot Russia or uncomfortable Sweden, so I think they will try to win it with as litte input as possible. but win to keep the team going.

Ok. I heard that Czech wanted to play Russia. Both because of some political history and the final last year.
Hell if I know. It isn't our best roster (on defense that is, forwars are pretty ok by our standards), but that's pretty much a German standard roster for a WC.
Maybe they are playing against Kölliker, as some rumors say, but they had some good pre-WC games...
It's weird. The team is almost the same as those two previous successful years. Maybe they need a really good coach like Krupp
Indeed, they seem to play against their own coach.

What's up with this Kolliker situation? I've also heard that the players don't like him. Have something happend?
Well Krupp was well-liked by some key players and just seems to be a very different person compared to Kölliker. Add to that that there were rumors that Kölliker is only a one-year stop gap for another coach (best case would be Krueger, the ex headcoach of Switzerland) and it seems that Kölliker right now is pretty much in a no-win situation.
We basically play with our 3rd defensive core, right now. And depth is not our strength. Without Holzer, Dietrich, Hördler and Braun who where the key to the previous success and no NHL dman helping us out this year, the depth guys (aka Reul/Lavallee) who weren´t playing more than like 4-5 mins a game last year, tripled their ice time. Not a good thing.
The only guys who would play on a normal roster, would be Krüger and Fischer.
