Had a nice breakaway goal.

Also blew his penalty shot.

Scored on a breakaway, then missed a PS. Overall he played great today IMO.

uff, it's over. I just feel so empty right now.

I just hope Sweden can go on and reach the finals (sorry, Cezchs), otherwise it would be a dull year again (hockeywise for me).

Good move by the coach to put Mrazek in for the last 10 minutes.

Goc is an offensive dissapointment so often... he is for the national team what he is in the NHL: a 2-way-forward more leaning to defensive actions who sometimes gets hot on offense. That said he mostly brings valuable elements to the team and is more often than not one of our best forwards overall IMO. I see the same in Schütz, really like him. Damn Kölliker for sitting him for 30 year old Furchner. I really hope Akdag can keep his track, (often, not today) looks so calm and more like a veteran than most other German dmen.

1:8
Well, M.Goc has certainly the talent. But he is a player that needs better teammates to score. Like Sturm and Hecht.

We finally need a guy that can create offense - no matter who his linemates are - and i think with Rieder/Kühnhackl and a peaking Gogulla we may have found some of that for years to come.

This doesn´t mean M.Goc is bad, i actually think he is way better than the most people rate him, but he simply seems be stuck between two inferior linemates - and he don´t know how to make an offensive difference with that.

Well it's good in that at least the players know each other, so you can get more out of the team that way than if you had the same players come together just for this tournament, obviously it suggests the depth isn't there and that's not a good thing, but that wasn't the point i was trying to make.

Good game. Happy we scored some goals.. To think that this team would lose on purpose... Thats a disgrace to even think that....... But I do like these lineups, we can only keep our fingers crossed that it will stay this way... We'll be playing the Russians again soon enough.

agreed pretty much with all except that I'm not so sure regarding Gogulla. I think he will often be amongst our most dangeroaus forwards, but right now we'll have to wait to see if he can do it more constantly.

So how will the German coach explain not picking Thomas Greiss for the team after they let up 20 goals in their last two games?

Of course Germany would have been better if Ehrhoff, Sulzer, Seidenberg and Sturm decided to play, but having Greiss would have made them a better team.

Thanks. Love to hear it.

Nice to hear his two-way game was up to standards. One of his biggest strengths.

Breakaway goals are where he really shines. He's able to showcase his puck/stick handling, creativity and speed. As for the penalty shot, it is hit or miss and it was clearly a miss today.

I have never seen anyone say Krejci likes to cuddle the puck.

So Nedved is going back on a line with Hemsky?

Most likely yes. I wish him the best and hope he will score some goals on thursday, but separating this Prucha-Koukal-Hemsky line dosn't look like a good idea at all.

It´s not a goaltender issue. Ehrhoff, Sulzer and Seidenberg are our 1st core in the defense. We were playing with our 3rd.

Ehrhoff and Seidenberg weren't there last year. I'd say we had a pretty decent team at Stockholm and they didn't deliver the way they were expected to. Just no energy...

Still you have to feel bad for Endras...

I think you missunderstood me on this.

Gogulla is a guy that - if he reaches his potential - can create offense on his own on this level. He showed this in this WC. And that is something we desperately need. He is a guy that can make the difference in a game like Latvia or Russia. (Scoring/Setting up the tying/first goal or at least create some momentum with a good chance)

There is a reason why Gogulla was targeted with this huge hit from Norway early in the game against us. Not M.Goc and not "DEL MVP" Hospelt. Hope you understand, what i meant.

(If you think i am biased, i am not. I actually don´t like him. )

I can't watch but I have been reading the board and some translated articles and they all say that this new line has really sparked the team and that Nedved is basically too slow and no longer good.
