Except it's spelled Gorges without an 'e'.

My predictions:

Emelin to KHL......

Subban Gorjez
Markov xxxxx
Kaberle Diaz
Weber St Denis
?????

(Tinordi, Beaulieu, Ellis, Nash....late season call ups)

xxxx= Large shut down type via free agency/trade
?????= Fringe NHLer/Veteran AHLer to be signed ufa like Woywitka last year.

You don't like McD in a Rags jersey correct? I'd like to see what happens if they take Girardi away from him

Why?

I can see moving one but not all 3. Diaz makes a good #5-6, solid at both ends. and Weber is good on the pP, I'd keep him as #7.

this (although it probably won't happen). at the very least, i would prefer one of Diaz/Weber don't need both...with probably keeping the former. i'd love to sign a rugged stay at home dman....which i think a lot of people would agree with. too many soft D guy's on this team.

I disagree. Diaz and Weber are still young and cheap and have upside to do more than they have so far. Why trade them now?

Kaberle had a down year, I think he can be a lot better, though a big stay at home guy might fit better but before moving Kaberle I'd make sure I could get a top 4 guy signed.

Pretty sure it won't happen. It's going to take a while for Bergevin to clean up Gauthier's mess.

Kaberle hasn't been good for 3 years. It's not a down year - he isn't very good any longer.

Diaz and Weber are too soft for this team... time to start over.

Because who will some Habs fans ***** about that left the team and matured into a strong player somewhere else? Why develop our own players properly when we can get a few more Gomez's?

It's up to a smart GM to develop the right players. That's been our problem - the guy's calling the shots were clueless.

I would compare McDonagh (a few years ago) to what Beaulieu is now. Would you trade a package including Beaulieu to SJ for Marleau?

That's what Gainey and PG did... brutal.

I wouldn't do it and Marleau is 100x better than Gomez...

I agree, but that's the kind of deal they did. They reached for a guy on the downside of his career with a bad contract.

The Kaberle deal was another. I knew it was a terrible deal when they did it (although some here disagreed).

Brilliant comment...must be why one of the top GM's in the NHL traded a 1st and a top prospect for him just over a year ago.

Kaberle had 49 points 2 years ago, 47 last year and 31 this year, 80% of which came in the 2nd half. If taht isn't "good" I'd like to see what you consider "good".

i didn't realise that the Habs only had use for "hard" defensemen.

Right, and that was a terrible move as well - and they couldn't wait to get rid of him.

You were one of PG's biggest fans around here. How did that work out?

Gauthier made a lot of good moves that Bergevin will end up getting credit for.
