If you guys are looking for a good read, go read the 'Why don't the best teams win anymore?' thread on the SC board..

He is a penguins fan

few excerpts : 'The revenue sharing needs to stop. If a team isn't working in its location than they need to leave.'

and

'The Pittsburgh elimination in the first round shouldn't have happened. Ref's lost that series in game #1 and never got it back the rest of the way.'

Can you say ********?

and their MVP goalie couldn't reach the finals.

so, I don't want to hear 'Hank on the Flyers = CUP'

...but the Kings and their MVP goalie DID reach the Final. When was the last time the two best goalies in the world played in the SCF? Roy and Brodeur in 2001? You talk like it's supposed to happen every year...

I'm not really sure what BP74 is trying to prove. I don't remember anybody saying that Lundqvist on the Flyers would equal an automatic Cup win, so I'm not sure why he's talking about that.

Are you trying to say that Lundqvist is no better than Bryz, because people here had been saying Henrik is better? What are you getting at here? I truly don't know what you're trying to say.

the fact that YOU don't remember it, doesn't mean that people didn't say it.

all year we heard:

'the biggest difference between NYR & the Flyers is in net'
'put Hank on the Flyers & we're unbeatable'
'if only WE had a a shut down goalie like Hank'
'with our scoring, all we need is a goalie like Henrik'

obviously, if Hank couldn't get to the Finals with NYR, he wasn't gonna do it with us. it's a pretty clear point. i don't know why you find that so difficult to comprehend

but, i'm not the least bit surprised

Any reason you aren't surprised I "can't comprehend it?"

Those aren't direct quotes, either. That's just something you've made up. The fact remains, though, that Lundqvist is a better goalie than Bryz. They Flyers WOULD be better off with someone who is as consistently good as him. Instant Cup? Likely not. But it wouldn't hurt their chances, and would probably improve them. That 1.82 GAA, .931 Save Percentage he put up this offseason would have been pretty beneficial...compared to 3.46, .887. One of those is dramatically better than the other.

Has it occurred to you that the loss isn't Lundqvist's fault? Why exactly are you blaming him, and not the Ranger's skaters? Oh right...the double standard you have. Goalies not named Bryzgalov: suck. Goalies named Bryzgalov: awesome!

every one of those things were said this past year.

this is not another Bryz discussion, by the way .... as much as you will try to steer it that way.

my comments are about Hank & how he couldn't reach the finals with the #2 overall team in the league.

and how he would not have done any better on our team.

so wait you dont think having Lundqvist on this team over Bryzgalov doesnt make the Flyers a better team? I know there are no guarantees. Just wondering what you are trying to imply.

While it wasn't Bryzgalov's fault that we lost to the Devils, and I think he's gotten more heat from fans and media than he deserves this season, those points haven't been refuted by this years playoffs at all.

So, this isn't a Bryzgalov discussion, you're just talking about how another specific goalie wouldn't make this team significantly better. That's a bit tough to discuss without bringing Bryzgalov into the debate.

People were saying this because if the Rangers had a problem doing anything it was getting enough scoring, especially in the playoffs. Since the Flyers had no trouble scoring people are saying that with Lundqvist the team has a good chance to be even better than without him.

I know you won't answer, because you only respond to Beef and yourself, but why do you think this bolded is true? If Hank had a team in front of him who could pot 3+ goals per game, he could go pretty far.

Oduya signing is probably final nail shutting the Hawks window to contend

Absolutely pathetic player and an even worse contract

I thought Oduya would have to take a bigger paycut than that. He's not been as good for the Thrashers/Jets as he was for the Devils a few seasons ago, and from what I saw of him with the Blackhawks he was very much up and down.

Oduya just doesn't do anything well enough to earn that kind of extension. If he had at least one strong suit, it might be worth it, but he's at best average in every defensive category.

If you didn't see this photo, Hal Gill has a great sense of self-deprecating humour. He had his wife snap this pic.

On his Twitter account, he added the caption: "I'm the highest paid one!"
