Whether our offensive core was better or not is a toss-up in my opinion. I think we had more depth with our team rather than our potential team with Richards and Carter. That said, that's seriously a dominant 1-2-3 punch.

Future-wise and cap flexibility wise, there's no doubt in my mind that we're better off, but we could potentially have won the Stanley Cup with Richards and Carter down the middle. Both are strong defensively and are veterans to the playoffs; two things we desperately needed this year.

It's not an easy question to answer.

Hopefully Poile catches wind of this and deals his rights. No way he could let him walk to DET WITH Parise.

EDIT for those who aren't sure how the CUP is won:

they don't award a team the Stanley CUP for getting 3 post season shutouts.

they award the STanley CUP to the team that gets 16 wins

Shutouts get wins?

I think keeping Versteeg would have been a lot better than trading him for what we did.

Didn't we give up a first rounder we never got back? Ugh.

Leafs took Stuart Percy with that pick--a few other promising defensive prospects on the board too (Musil, Clendening).

Another event cancelled (the NHL Premiere games have been cancelled, along with a few rookie tournaments) because of the expiration of the CBA:

I really think over 70 percent of tripping calls in the nhl are dives. These guys are the best skaters in the world, and one handed swipe at the skate isn't going to send them flying. Seriously they go down easier than most at bantam. It's getting soccer-bad.

And Rangers down 2-0, you say?
Kreider will score one goal and it will count for three.
He invented the sport of hockey (or that's what I've been lead to believe since all of the NBC guys ride his jock), so he can do that.

And if I remember correctly we traded the picks we got for Kubina.

Looks like the secret to beating the devils is the same as the pens. Let them get up a few. Proven in the fla series and this series to an extent. Rooting for the rags. Kind of want an LA NY final

Well the good thing for us...one of these teams wont be in the finals next season. Cup/cup loss hangover. Hopefully its the Devils in the finals cause the Rangers might be worn out for next playoffs just case all their series are going so long.

Well thats ****ed up...how are you gonna chant "you suck" to the Rangers after they're eliminated? Nobody should say anything about the Philly fanbase when the Devil's fanbase is screaming "you suck" after a team gets eliminated?

Devils win....doesnt surprise me. Well coached and good team. If they win it all it will be typical for the Flyers.. always lose to the eventual cup winner....ugh!

Article on NHL.com says Gagne thinks he could play in the finals. That would make LA winning more bearable.
