When ovechkin arrives, it usually means that it's time for the russians to lose that quarterfinal or semifinal against a disciplined TEAM while "ovie" and "geno" are mainly concentrating on trying to be the greatest superstar on ice and messing up russia's teamplay.
So, don't count out Norway yet, they should have a chance if they can act as a TEAM and have a bit of luck in that QF game
Lol, first you say that ANYTHING can happen.....and then you go on pretty much saying that Norway has absolutely no chance to reach the SF....
Norway´s chances aren´t too big on PAPER, but neither are Slovakia´s (it´s no accident that we only ever won against Canada once at the WC, ten years ago). The way both teams have played at this tourney, the chance of Norwy winning that one game is not smaller than Slovakia´s is.
doh...words anything and only in this order are significant pointer of exception...if you dont get it its not my fault

I know what you mean, but there is different coaching now. Coach Bill is a system guy - everyone plays the system, and if not, they sit, superstar or not. The whole focus is defense, which has been Russia's strong suit this year, as opposed to the last 4 years or so when it was the biggest weakness.

Well, I think your Coach Bill should of just said no thanks to "ovie" this year (meaning: don't come messing up this winning team...), but let's see what happens - I personally really wouldn't mind seeing the russians fail again
i summerized all the highlights of the russian team @ the last world championship (Remark: the video ends without an happy end for the russians)
-> remember: grandlund has crushed our hopes with an marvelous goal (4:45min.)
RUS, I won't be missing this match. How awesome it would be if Norway could pull off the upset of the tournament.
SWE, this is the closest matchup. Great team but Sweden's goalies are the weakest of all quarterfinalists
CAN
USA
Those would be my picks as the semi-finalists. I voted Russia on who wins the tourney and see them as the favorite but the medals feels like a very open affair.
it´s 12,00 here in Slovakia. Everyone gets sick again and stay at home watching it, damn
Now you guys in NA finally see how much fan it take to stay up all night to watch NHL playoffs.
US Eastern Standard Time here ... 6 hours behind Stockholm and 7 hours behind Helsinki ... so no late nights here, thankfully ... 6am for Canada/8:45am for Russia ... not too bad.

Norway´s offence is nothing short of amazing so far, scored the most after Canadians. I wouldnt count them off yet.
While that's true, if you look at their scoring against the class of opponents they'll meet in the QFs it doesn't look as good.
7 goals in 3 games against Sweden, Russia and Czech Republic.
It's not terrible, but they'll have to play very tight defence and have their goalie come up big.
Of course I hope that part of the lower scoring against those teams is that the competition was only getting started. Now that they've warmed up I'm sure they'll net a good 5-8 against Russia
