Marc Staal

This isn't just about his performance in game 7, this is about his playoff performance thus far. I think he's gotten progressively better with each game in the playoffs, he's totally upped his game in every way. It was clear that he had rust when he came back form that concussion, but he's progressed well. Hoping he keeps it up, he's been great.

He's played over half a season now. So I'm glad he's in "mid-season" shape.

Staal is not back at 100%, and like Torts said, he won't be until next season. Not taking anything away from how awesome he's been playing, but Marc Staal can be better.

He can be better, but he's been our best d-man many nights. Those who want to trade Staal are nuts.

This kid is really gonna reach a whole new level next year with a full camp. He is playing the way we expected him to be right now in"mid season form". He still is the best d-man on this team imo although mcdonagh is not far behind at all.

Marc Staal has recovered from a severe injury and now he is picking up on the trajectory he was already on. He was still developing when he went out with his concussion.
He has played some pretty amazing hockey during the playoffs. If you want to, just concentrate on watching him. I did that tonight. He played a great game, but I already knew he was doing that in previous games anyway.

He's in mid-season form. Wonderful for us, but scary as hell for everyone else...

Led all Rangers in icetime in 2 of the last 4 games. Even more than Girardi who btw led the league in TOI. I'd say he's back. And that goal in OT was the exclamation point!

He's been a monster but IMO he'd be even better if he'd been healthy all year. He's definitely playing great.

Only ''for now''? Tough audience.

We have 4 guys right now who any team in the league would want. And the fact that we have them all is the foundation ( along with #30 ) of why we are where we are.
Keeping them all, if financially viable, is a must.

He is back to looking like our best defenseman again, and I only think he will improve next year with a full training camp under his belt. That's unfortunate for all the Rangers fans who wrote Staal off earlier this year and said that Girardi and McDonagh have passed him on the depth chart. We don't make it this far without Staal. Expendable, my ass.

He's been tremendous for us, that concussion was a blessing in disguise as he has fresher legs

He really may have had the best game of his career last night. He was unbelievable.

The Rangers have 3 #1 shutdown defenders

This, by far.

Guy is the toast of shutdown defense in the NHL at 25 years old and he's going to refine his craft even sharper as he gets older. Guy is a stud, i don't want to hear naysayers try to justify that since he's so "atrocious offensively" that his impeccable d-play doesn't make him an elite d-man. People say he's overrated because of his last name, but it was coming awfully close to him being underrated because of it.
