Nhl 13

Not a lot to go with yet, but the first teaser for NHL 13 is here and the next is supposed to be out tomorrow. So far, I think it's pointing to a new skating engine, but they really give you very little to go on:

This might be the first time since NHL 2006 that I'll skip a year unless they make some real improvements. I've finally grown sick of getting 2 or 3 small updates while they advertise it as a completely new game.

Regardless, I'll keep an eye on the game, just in case

I agree. I hope it is an actual new skating engine rather than just a couple of lame tweaks that they try and market as revolutionary improvements. If it is not a major change, I won't shell out for the game, but I'll keep my on it until I'm able to make the call on whether or not it justifies my dollar. For me, if they actually DO make significant improvements, there's no better money spent than on an NHL game, as I'll play it 200 days out of the year. It's just a question of whether or not they actually deliver true improvements.

Skipped NHL12, played FIFA12 most of the year. Hopefully, they improve physics. I'm sick of poke checking someone just to see his stick go through mine and score.

Maybe they will finally realize that broken glass, broken sticks, helmets popping off, and goalie fights are not as important as the actual core game play.

Doubt it.

Are they still using the same engine?

I'll pass if they haven't improved the engine, defense, corner and board battles, draft picks having the same names as current NHL players each year, BAGM mode, salaries, contracts, trades, pre season play, et cetra.

It will probably be some half-usable Kinect feature... Though Kinect goalie play could be fun.

I hope they add the ability to fake slash at goalies, and add important stuff like a guy in a suit with a microphone headset between the benches. It's got to be authentic.

In all seriousness, I hope it's good, I didn't end up getting NHL 12. I don't think Kinect goalies would work very well, the puck would end up behind you before Kinect even senses you moved your arm.

would be way too inaccurate. you'd likely be scored on almost every shot.

The trailer is teasing a new skating engine. That alone will make the game feel different for better or worse we'll find out.

I'm also hoping it's a new skating engine. The old one is OK but there are some serious issues.

At the end of the trailer when they do the quick shots it looks like the Nashville player is doing backwards cross overs which was not in NHL 12

should be interesting. Have not purchased an NHL since 10. Bein playing an older Fifa and Madden 12 killing the time until I feel the NHL series has changed enough to buy.

it's been the same game for 5 years, with minor tweaks that they say make a "major difference" that you never actually see

i wont be buying it

Absolutely this. I've finally grown sick of the engine and it's many flaws, despite the cool features it possesses. I BARELY played '12, traded it in halfway through the season and haven't regretted it since.

Well with a new skating engine / mechanic the game will feel noticeably different.

For better or worse remains to be seen.

I'm sick of the fact players rarely flat out win races to pucks which happens every game in real life

Somehow the defencemen are just as fast as stamkos chasing a breakaway puck in the game

Its frustrating, not sure if a new skating engine fixes that

Agreed. So frustrating when you charge over the blue line and chip the puck past a stationary defenceman, only to have him turn around and pick up enough momentum to beat you in the footrace.

I hate that so much. I had a 96 speed forward blow by a mediocre dman at the blueline just to see him catch up and stop my breakaway
