Jets GM met/Ondrej Pavelec looking for huge payday

According to Dreger Evander Kane has not asked for a trade and Ondrej Pavelec is looking for 4+ million on multi year contract or he goes to the KHL(I hate the KHL).

It is one problem after another ****, I hope they get Pavs and Kane signed because if we lose Pavs to the KHL for nothng then it sucks. And if we were to trade Kane we proably won't get a fair deal.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I'd have no problems giving Pavs 4-4.5 million/year.

However, I don't like that he (or at least his agent) used the KHL option as leverage to get a better deal. I think it reflects poorly upon him.

Is Pavelec looking for big term? $4 doesn't seem that insane for a goalie who can play 60-70 games a year. I'm sure some team would be willing to give him that if Winnipeg were willing to deal his rights. I wouldn't be against the Leafs making a move if he were.

I think the Jets will sign Pavelc. Also I wish Dreger would have found out something about Kane saying he doesnt want to sign a new deal. Just because he didnt ask for a trade doesnt mean hes happy long term.

I wonder if Winnipeg was on Loungo's short list...

Apparently Cory Schneider was ok with the city when he played there on the Moose although I can't see Jets management parting with a lot of assets to replace a player who bailed for nothing.

It's a good thing I'm not a GM because if one of my players started pulling the KHL card, I'd tell him not to let the door hit him on the way out, then hold onto his NHL rights so he can never come back.

Kevin Cheveldayoff needs to pay Pavelec. He's mostly the reason the team is as competitive as they are. While they have a decent defense, that offense is attrocious and will continue to be attrocious as long as Winnipeg does not have a first line center. Burmistrov and Little were rushed into the NHL way too early. They need a top center who can spell some of the heavier duties that Little and Burmistrov are asked to do, but shouldn't.

Anyways, Pavelec has been superb and stole several games for the Jets. If Cheveldayoff doesn't reward Pavelec for his all world performance, then he's going to look like a buffoon. You don't underpay your top players. Pavelec is Winnipeg's best player. Pay him the money. I'd say a 5 year, 26.5M is a very good contract for Pavelec.

My first idea when I heard about the Pavelec to KHL rumors were 'Cory Schneider for Evander Kane'. Straight up. Jets get an upgrade in goal and send someone who's maybe not thrilled to be there out of town. Vancouver gets Schneider out of conference, solves their goalie dilemma, and adds a young hometown goal-scorer.

From an outsider prospective I give Pav 4 million a year for 4 + years easy.

If I was a G' I`d look at getting a goalie at a cheaper cost then moving Kane.

I`d rather go cheap and roll the dice on Bishop, Lindback and Smith types

Pavelec isn't worth anything close to 4M per at this point

Still needs alot of work on his game and is too inconsistant

since when is 4 mil a year for a goalie like pavs too much? seems perfectly reasonable with his performance and upside

It's just a negotiating strategy... nothing wrong with it at all. No idea why you'd say that reflects badly on him.

Totally agree Pavelec stole a lot of games for them. I think Chevy gets him signed.

Ladd on Kesler's wing? Instant chemistry!

Also, there's nothing wrong with players using outside offers for leverage. Organizations do their utmost to limit the players' options, so it's only fair (and foul) that they strike back.
