I say top 5 behind Forsberg, Sakic and maybe kovolchuk.

I would. Definetly top 5. Possibly #3 (Goaltenders not included). Are defencemen included?

I'd say probably yes. Forsberg, Brodeur, and Lidstrom are the only guys I'd definitely have ahead of him. Some combination of Sakic, Pronger, Iginla, and Naslund would probably take the next couple of slots. I love Kovalchuk but he's not top 10 yet.

Lets do it including all players and just forwards.

all players I would say Forsberg, Sakic, Broduer, Iginla.

just forwards, Forsberg, Sakic, Iginla.

Without a shadow of a doubt.

He's not the best player in the NHL but if I'm picking first in a fantasy draft I'm taking Iginla everytime. He is the most valuable commodity in the NHL.

If were talking fantasy draft then (discounting goalies since their numbers work so much differently) Marcus Naslund is definitely a better pick than Iginla right now.

Unless you mean a hypothetical "wipe out the NHL and restock all the rosters draft" and not a fantasy draft in the fan competition sense.

Here are the best players at each position in my opinion.

1- Center: Joe Sakic or Peter Forsberg (pretty hard to make a choice but I would choose Sakic)

2- Left Wing: Todd Bertuzzi

3- Right Wing: Jarome Iginla

4- Defensemen: Chris Pronger

5- Goalie: Martin Brodeur or Roberto Luongo (I'll take Brodeur but Theodore is great too when he's on top of his game)

So yeah Iginla is top 5 imo but top 10 for sure!

Bertuzzi is a right wing, not a left wing, and Naslund is the best left wing in the NHL.

I just meant I would rather have Iginla on my team than any other player.

Top 5? Easily.

And he is just now entering his "prime" years.

I agree, huge Nazzy fan he is the best LW in the game. Followed by Kovolchuk then Elias/Nash.

there's so many great players I think it's really hard to determine a distinct top 5...
Hossa is a guy that is going to be absolutely great for sure...
If Elias wasn't on the Devils and was on a team like the Canucks or some other fast flying team, what kind of numbers would he put up..?

I definitely think he's top 5 now. Only players I consider better are Forsberg, Lidstrom and Brodeur. Forsberg being the only one of those three who Iginla is arguably better than (injuries concern). Iginla is in the 2nd teir of Iginla, Sakic, Naslund, Pronger, Neidermayer, with Thornton and Kovalchuk close behind. I personally wouldn't rank him lower than 5th, and I'd have trouble putting him lower than 4th, even. He's the ideal franchise player, imo (except he doesn't play center).
