I say top 5 behind Forsberg, Sakic and maybe kovolchuk.
I'd say probably yes. Forsberg, Brodeur, and Lidstrom are the only guys I'd definitely have ahead of him. Some combination of Sakic, Pronger, Iginla, and Naslund would probably take the next couple of slots. I love Kovalchuk but he's not top 10 yet.
“The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile, but that it is indifferent. If we can come to terms with this indifference and accept the challenges of life within the boundaries of death, our existence as a species can have genuine meaning and fulfillment. However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light.” - Stanley Kubrick
there's so many great players I think it's really hard to determine a distinct top 5...
Hossa is a guy that is going to be absolutely great for sure...
If Elias wasn't on the Devils and was on a team like the Canucks or some other fast flying team, what kind of numbers would he put up..?
I definitely think he's top 5 now. Only players I consider better are Forsberg, Lidstrom and Brodeur. Forsberg being the only one of those three who Iginla is arguably better than (injuries concern). Iginla is in the 2nd teir of Iginla, Sakic, Naslund, Pronger, Neidermayer, with Thornton and Kovalchuk close behind. I personally wouldn't rank him lower than 5th, and I'd have trouble putting him lower than 4th, even. He's the ideal franchise player, imo (except he doesn't play center).
