Per TG. DeBoer changing up the lines in practice & looks like Harrold may be back in the lineup tonight.

New lines are:
Parise-Zajac-Kovalchuk
Sykora-Elias-Zubrus
Ponikarovsky-Henrique-Clarkson
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

Instead of shooting pucks at the heads of Ranger players, maybe we should go to the Rangers board and shoot head hunters over there instead.

I guess loading up the top line again could work. The Rangers don't have a ton of depth so going back to it isn't terrible. But now they can shut down Kovy and Parise at the same time much easier.

I don't hate it. Could create matchup problems.

Sooner or later they'll have to play Bickel

Not a fan of going back to the old lines at all. When are we gonna reward Henrique with decent linemates?

Anyway, we'll see how these changes work out.

They've done fine playing him for no minutes before. I still don't understand how they can do it with only four and a half defencemen.

We've had success with those lines in the past. I'm hoping we can sort of overwhelm those four.

Henrique has some good one on one skills, he might get some favorable match-ups if their top lines/D is facing the Zajac/Elias lines. Nice curve ball to Grumpy over there and they are lines that know each other.

Well, NJ won Game 1 in '94 and lost the series, so perhaps the reverse will happen this time...

I like these lines I think one reason Pete may have to going back to the old lines is to get Elias going again because he seems to play way better when he has Sykora and Zubrus on his wings. The only question I have is why are they scratching Larsson all of a sudden?

Larsson was arguably our best d-man in game 1 and he sits. errr, okay. Hope this isn't a mistake, Pete.

The super shot blocking teams have gotten far in the playoffs in recent years, but they haven't won the Cup.

The way to beat them is by having a three layered attack. Shoot pucks from the point and have a forward there in the middle of the ice at the first shot blocking level. When the puck is loose after a block, take it from them and shovel it to the net again. If it's blocked again by the second level, have a guy waiting at the doorstep. The third forward should be waiting by the boards on the side of the ice with the puck to try and get a sharp angle shot if it's a Sykora-type player. When the puck is passed left and right, rotate the guy at the boards with the guy in the high slot.

You can beat shot blockers. It's a weak system designed to beat weak teams.

He and Poni play well together. People forget Poni used to be a top six forward.

Volchenkov should be sitting.

Anyway, Devils played well for two periods on Monday. Continue firing the puck at the net and controlling the play down low and something will give.

This is the one thing I kept thinking Monday. Don't bother having someone stand directly in front of the net. Have guys ready to pounce in front of the other team's defensemen.

As per TG - DeBoer said he's not "married" to these line combos for tonight's game.

I've been a huge Larsson defender, and he does well with guys who have the puck, but he let a few guys that didn't have the puck skate behind him while he just stared the puck down and it was scary.

2) Trolling: Do not post topics with the sole purpose of starting a dispute. Note that a person disagreeing with your opinion is NOT trolling; keep it civil, even if you're sure the other person is wrong. When visiting the team forums please note that they are fan forums for that team and are here mainly for the enjoyment of that team's fans. Do not visit team forums to cheer against or demean their team, or cheer for their opponent. In other words, if you want to cheer for the Habs and criticize the Bruins, do it on the Habs board. And if someone is doing the opposite on the Bruins board, don't start flaming them to defend the honor of your team. Either ignore it respectfully disagree and move on. Wishing illness or injury on someone will almost always be regarded as trolling or offensive. We do not permit any forums to be used to demean/insult the fans of other teams. That is considered trolling. Copying posts from one HFBoard team forum to another for this purpose is considered trolling.
Talking about the fact that shot blocking takes a toll and often comes with injury is perfectly fine. Talking about hoping someone takes a shot in the face and picks up their teeth, or gets their adam's apple crushed is not.

Site rules forbid posting about hoping for an injury on a player. Post at your own risk.
