our team very rarely bumps the goalie or tries to take him off his game. the only ones i see sortve do it are carter and bernier to a lesser extent. i never want blatant runs taken at the goalies, as it would just lead to penalties, but i really wish this team...and every player, made lundy worry about getting bumped. i just dont get why they never do this, especially to him. its like theyre gonna get fined by lou or something.

I have an uneasy feeling about today but I think that has much more to do with the fact it can be 0 - 2 after tonight. I really don't think the Devils would deserve that fate tbh, but the Rangers really seem to have a gigantic horseshoe up their ***** despite the fact that they work hard.

My brain keeps telling me the Rangers shouldn't be able to continue winning like this. I look at their roster and I can't accept that it's Stanley Cup Final worthy. Teams winning games by the skin of their balls every single night should not be able to advance this far. They just shouldn't. They have a really good goalie, who also has goalies with less equipment in front of him. Frustrating doesn't come close to describing the last 97 NYR games.

NJ just needs to play better than they did in game 1. It's not to say that they were bad, but they can certainly be better. That really is the bottom line at the end of the day. They'll be in good shape if they can do that.

Well, the percent chance for a Devils loss just increased by 10% to 30%.

The game tonight is at MSG, and Torts will have last change.

Going back to it, IS terrible, not to mention, dumb.

I have been preaching the separation of Kovy and Parise for something like 1.5 years now, and the Devils best offense in the playoffs happened simultaneous to them being split up.

And why is Larsson benched? He was fine the other night.

Given the Rangers have virtually no offensive ability, if anything I wouldn't mind seeing both Larsson AND Harrold in the lineup.

Look at Pete messing with the lines. Good for him. Rangers top line can't score when our top line is out the with parise an zajac forechecking an kovy waiting for the open shot

So much panic. I know how awful going down to 0-2 to the Rangers seems. But it's not happening.

These line combinations have won us games before and they'll do it again tonight.

The 4th line needed some time to get their legs back, but they still have their essential energy.

The 3rd line of Poni, Henrique and Clarkson is the reason we weren't on the losing side of the handshakes in the first round.

The 2nd line is the only combination to have recently scored on Lundqvist

And let our top scorers wreak havoc out there all at once. Let McDonagh try and shut down all three of them at the same time, because Girardi is starting to look prime for the feasting.

And again, Harrold for Larsson is, at worst, a lateral move.

No, he clearly used the sarcasm smiley in the interview. That's why it's a non-event today.

@TGfireandice: DeBoer: "I really liked how Larsson has played since he's gone back in. So if we do move Larsson out, it's not a reflection on how he played. It's just to get a different type element in there."

The one thing that does give me some confidence is that i know the Devils will bring it tonight. They know what's at stake so they'll be ready. i have no doubt about this.

They'll bring their best game, and it should be good enough.

That "element" is offensive skill, and the ability to get shots through traffic.

Bingo. Plus, Harrold will be an upgrade on the PP over Fayne.

Like you said earlier, though, I would like to see both Larsson and Harrold in personally.

Yes there will be people saying, "But the lines we had for Philly were more successful"... But they worked for Philly. They clearly did not do enough damage in Game 1 against the Rangers; time to adjust. Good on Pete for doing that!

We can't be patient to wait for our lines to figure themselves out against a new opponent. Tonight's as close to a "must-win" game as we should hope to play, so let's hope they light the spark and get it going.

With all the attention McDonaugh and Girardi are going to have to give to our top line, the Ponikarovskys, Eliases, and Clarksons will have more breathing room to play their game.

Yes, this. Callahan does fall down, but look at that D moving from side to side, that's the stuff. But doing it even strength too is the catch.

When they shot block they remind of that viral video where all the kittens are staring at something off camera and keep moving back and forth in unison. Why can't someone be in front or even around the hash marks in the slot and take up a D or two's attention and also force the keeper to look around him too. But I also think black jelly beans are fantastic so what do I know.

I think Larsson was great last game. And I don't think Harrold is awesome or anything.

But one thing Harrold can do is handle the puck. He had a few great fakes that got the Panthers and Flyers down on the ice. His speed isn't that bad either... My problem with him during the previous series was he held onto the puck for TOO long. This might be what DeBoer's looking for this time around though.

Actually, Larsson was getting shots through just fine in game one.

I think it's just mobility on the point. Harrold has shown the ability to consistently create chances for himself. I just wish he'd actually pull the trigger.

If putting a terrible offensive team on the PP a few more times is the price you pay for making a goalie who owns you uncomfortable, i'll pay that price.

I don't mind Harrold in over Larsson. Harrold has played very well.

I think Harrold matches up better against Kreider/Hagelin, to be honest...
