Man those Kings. Looks like they're gonna make it. But I gotta hand it to them, they have the right pieces and the right skill. The management did a really good job for that team this season. I can't believe there were people who had doubts about DL and Sutter in LA.

How many times have the Devils gotten behind the Rangers' D? I wish the Sharks did stretch passes like that.

Reminder: We did not want Willie Mitchell when he was a UFA.

He had a helluvan injury history. The Kings have been extraordinarily lucky with injuries.

Speaking of injuries, the Flyers had a dandy after only 9 games.

Does Daryl Sutter not look or even sound like an older version of Stevie from Eastbound & Down?

So did Nittimaki, and that didn't stop DW from signing him to a multi year deal. TO BE OUR STARTER.

Mitchell is a massive upgrade on Murray (defensively AND offensively). Big mistake by management not signing him and trading Murray 2 yrs ago.

Some guys were probably hurt before playoffs started (JVR for one). It didnt help that they couldn't finish off Pittsburgh earlier either.

I was hoping he would sign here I thought DW didnt want to give him 3 years? I thought it came down to the Sharks, Kings and Caps.

Yeah, they didn't want to give him the years because of his injury (concussion) history. I don't think he's missed a game because of it since he signed. OOPS!

True... That's one that I think everyone was upset about at the time too. It's not a hindsight thing. He's been their best defenseman all season.

Darren Pang sounds like a huge Yotes homer in this "neutral" broadcast.

Player #1 through 4 games of a WCF: 4G, 2A, for 6 points.
Player #2 through 4 games of a WCF: 2G, 1A, for 3 points.

Guess which one is called a choker.

The one that went 0G, 0A, for 0 points in 2012?

Come on, you called him a choker before this season. You know who has terrible career playoff stats? Shane Doan does.

In his regular season NHL career, Shane Doan has a .66 PPG. In his playoff NHL career, Shane Doan has a .5 PPG.

And yet Patty's the choker and Doan is some sort of leader with all these intangibles and a playoff warrior.

Get your facts straight before talking out your bias.

No, it's just that Patty is a choker, and Doan is overrated on these boards.

That's funny, because everyone here is complaining that Doan "steps up" when his team needs him and Patty doesn't.

I can't stress enough. Look at the ****ing numbers.

Patty's GPG in the regular season: .35
Patty's GPG in the post-season: .40

What I see is a player who scores goals at a higher rate in the playoffs than the regular season. I don't know how the hell you can argue the opposite.

That's not really fair. Not only was Doan on lousy teams that weren't expected to get far, but he missed the playoffs during his prime, so his playoff sample size only accounts for when he was really young or when he was already past his prime.
If you only count the regular season points the seasons he also made the playoffs

Doan: 0.5 in the RS, 0.5 in the PO

I didn't call him a choker, but I did criticize him before this season. Only having one point in the Detroit series, and then having 0 points in the St. Louis series just rubs me the wrong way. I don't think people unfairly criticized him before then either. He was pretty solid the entire 09-10 post-season, and everyone was injured in the 08-09 post-season.

Since when have Sharks fans been "fair" to Marleau?

Fine. Discount all the stats, if you like. Just don't turn around and tell me that Doan is some great leader with all these intangibles like everyone else seems to think.

(Seriously, not aimed at you specifically, Fetus).

Johan Franzen had a whole one point in five games this post season. But he's labeled as a playoff beast. These things happen to skilled, but inconsistent players. Even with those two series basically being blackholes on Patty's playoff numbers, he still puts up very good ones. Think about what his stats would be like without those two series.

It happens. It's okay to be mad at Patty for not showing up in those two series; I know I am. I'm pissed as ****. But what bothers me is that people throw Patty under the bus for his poor performances and then don't recognize his good ones.
