By all means go ahead. Get your players suspended

There's a gigantic difference between blocking a shot and running a goaltender buddy.

That would be an illegal play though

I wouldn't want Marty to get hurt. I want to beat the best to be the best. The Rangers don't need to go head hunting to be better.

The intent to injure is the same. Let Bickel do it, no loss.

So far everyone that isn't a Rangers fan doesn't think this is a big deal. They still won't get it.

What an odd thing to admit. How is that any different then what the New Orleans Saints were just punished for?
Yeah, this definitely wasn't taken out of context at all.

I think a mans head is considered a vulnerable area... wouldn't you agree? Really.

Brodeur is a dick, but we knew that already. And there's no rule against being a dick.

Devils fans are biased to defend Brodeur, Rangers fans are conditioned to hate his guts, so you can throw out all our opinions. Neutral fans don't seem to have a problem with this. I think that's telling.

I never want to see anyone get hurt. However, in baseball they always tell you to throw at the runners's head who's going from 1st. to 2nd., on a double play ball.

Plus, I believe he was frustrated and he was interviewed right after the game.

And if he meant it, why even say it to a journalist, you keep it on QT and keep it between you and your teammates. You would think?

I have no problem with what he said. I just found it surprising he actually said it out loud to the media.

I still don't understand why these guys don't wear cages. Is it going to take someone trying to block a 100 mph shot to the face who become critically injured to wear them?

meh he is just being realistic. Of course some of the shots blocked may injure a player dependent on where they hit.

Brodeur is correct---if the d-points purposely shot at guys heads they would not be so "willing" to block shots anymore...The current mantra is "WILL over SKILL" which means willingness to block shots stymies skill --the current "success" stories of the NHL playoffs for defense beats offense style teams..take away the WILL to block shots and they will do a lot less of it...

The proof is how much less willing Duncan Keith is to block shots after his teeth losing incident in the Hawks Cup run to their Chamionship (it seems so long ago now after 2 fail years thereafter...but the point is--somebody knocked out his teeth with a shot --and he is now has little WILL to get in the way of a hard shot --you can't blame him but the result speaks for itself --shott for the teeth and I guarantee less blocked shots! Brodeur is 100% correct.

Henrik Lundqvist would never say anything like that... The guy is total class win or lose..

That only gives us a two minute window for the whole game.

Really? Running the goalie is the same as taking a slapshot? Are you by any chance, aware at how accurate you'd have to be to take the slapshot and predict where the blockers head would be so you could hit it?

Boy oh boy are you delusional...

Yes,
It's ice hockey. Lot's of whining over nothing. Maybe they should wear cages on their lids instead of visors.

took you 2 days to make a thread on this? old news and has been discussed already. listen to the entire interview and ignore the fact he's laughing and joking if you want.

sarcasm son, sarcasm.

Just like the "I only saw him for about 10 minutes through all the players" comment.

Exactly! Stupid thing to say , while all of NY is so focused on hockey. Even if a guy gets injred by legit accident the NHL looks bad...

This is why the Saints were so harshly punished...and they never came right out and admitted trying to injure opponents, they had to be secretly taped...
