I'm surprised no one brought up the fact that if players' 100mph slapshots were accurate enough to purposely hit faces, they'd be filling the top corners instead.

There is NO reason to defend this comment. It's one thing to get injured by accidental play. And players go into these games full well what the risks are, however to make a comment that hitting someone in the head with intent to injure/hurt them is just beyond stupid.

It's in full spread double page LOOK AT ME ARTICLE in the NY POST today.

It is the story on the series... today.

That might be a little dramatic. Really, the only fans in the NHL who pay mind to Brodeur's marital history are Ranger fans.

Exactly. I was shocked that he would say this publicly.

The Post is a gossip paper. Very little real news in it and this fits right in.

I don't care about that, it's still old news, that's been discussed plenty on both boards. No need to cause a scene on the main board. How about this, if you see any Devil go out of his way to hit a Ranger in the head tonight, by all means feel free to post as many threads about it as you want.

I find it funny how the Devil's fans get so riled up about these threads.

And yet I know of know other team's fans that jump on Rangers threads more often the Devil's supporters. The Rangers will have lost to a western conference team in December and there they are- countless giddy posts from Devil's fans.

Frankly, for a guy you all claim is so classy, it was an incredibly stupid comment to make- even if it wasn't meant 100% seriously.

I remember quite well how Marty claimed the shot Steven's took to the head so many years ago was intentional.

Now if a Ranger player takes a puck up high or it looks like a Devil is intentionally trying to shoot at a Ranger what kind of fallout can be expected? I could see the series get completely out of control.

He may very well be one of the greatest goalies ever, but he has always been arrogant. I remember when Lundqvist first came into the league and started beating the Devil's after years of the Devils destroying the Rangers and Marty acted like he didn't even know who Henrik was.

Lastly, it is amazing that he hasn't hurt himself over the years with those violent flops after someone goes near him. It always looks like he was shot in the stomach.

Yeah, great but classless...

Lundqvist: "It's a great challenge to play against Brodeur. I played a few games against Hasek, and I put him right up there with him."

Brodeur: "We might be able to hurt a few guys by hitting a few one-timers into their foot or head or something."

Classy stuff...

Why is it classless? The Rangers are blocking a ton of shots. If I was a coaching against the Rangers - I'd 100% be telling guys to be "shooting to hurt". Pretty simple that you need to make guys not want to block shots.

When do you ever see a Devils fan start a Rangers related thread? Happens a lot the other way around though, and we're the ones that are obsessed?

Hopefully if Marty loses his helmet, which ever ranger has the puck fires it right at his head

... and there will be a conspiracy when the refs don't call the Devils on it.

What Marty said has been taken out of context and blown out of proportion.

I find it funny that Rangers fans keep starting threads about the Devils, even before this series.

By the way, the fact that Chariot is now citing the Post as the reason why this is relevant is hilarious.

You do know that play stops immediately when the goalie loses his helmet, right?

are you serious?
Is this really a story?
Its ICE HOCKEY.
Have you ever played? If you want to block shots, you sacrifice the body.
If you don't want to sacrifice the body, you don't.

I find it funny that the Devils are already getting frustrated with the Ranger shot blocking.
