Heh George behind the bench would be pure entertainment, the sad part is Ted would probably allow it.

It's just embarrassing watching the way the front office conducts itself sometimes. There are so many malleable assets here, and they just rot away. It's like giving a sculptor and myself the same slab of marble. He's going to make something amazing, I'm going to make a big square with some chips in it.

I hate what my father got me in to, man.

Rumored for the past couple days but...

RenLavoieRDS: Bob Hartley is the new head coach of the Flames.

Scratch Hartley off the list. Sounds like he is a Flame.

@JoshRimerHockey: I've been told the report by the Canadiens earlier this week w/ Harltey as new coach really got Calgary moving & they didn't want to lose out

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Now that Bob Hartley is new head coach in CGY - official release momentarily - MTL job is down to Michel Therrien or Marc Crawford.

It’s not important to get a coach in place by the draft in late June or by the time free agency starts on July 1, McPhee said.
I can't see how the bolded part is true. I think most if not all players take into account who they are going to be playing for to start at least into consideration when deciding who to sign with. Not understanding that seems very head in the sandish...

It means one of two [three] things: 1.) GMGM has no intention of signing high-impact free agents... meaning he's either not changing much or making changes via trade, and using free agency to fill in depth with guys that aren't going to be as tough to sign

or

2.) GMGM is outright lying about at least that part of it

[or 3.) he may not have a coach hired but he will have a rock-solid system in place that any hire will have to stick to, something he can sell to free agents; this still counts as lying to me, so goes with 2.)]

But I think even guys who aren't high profile care about who they are going to be playing for...

Still coaching the Toronto Marlies who begin play against Norfolk in the Calder Cup finals.

Pretty good read on Eakins and what you can expect if he were to be the coach.

Does he ever? Robert Lang 2.0?

If McPhee doesn't have a candidate lined up and isn't simply waiting for the various leagues to end to announce, I'll be surprised.

He's gotta at least have a shortlist, right?

Maybe he wants to interview someone like Eakins, and is waiting for him to finish.

They do, but they're easier to overpay to sway their opinions. And easier to find as the offseason drags on.

Love the idea at face value, but with no real coaching resume....Stevens can't be in play.

I suspect Eakins...

John, not Scott.

I wouldn't mind Eakins provided there are significant forward additions made.

I'm sure GMGM is prepping to load up on dump n chase/chip n chase type forwards as we speak....

Moar grinders!!!!1!

I think he feels vindicated since Ward potted a SWG. Of course Knuble plowed into the Toolbox which aided in the goal. As did the Bruins RD smelling blood with The 655 Express pinned down yet again, and pinched. They got caught and our mules plowed us to glory.

We look like a team with no hands - will George embrace that, or fix it. Ovi's hands became Amishly brick like out of seemingly no where. He is our best player - that hurts a ton. Our wings can't even chip pucks on target to someone breaking out. Our Dmen, desperately try to deflect a puck off a forward to avert an icing. That is our breakout and attack. Our new coach is going to realize that early on.
