Next year the Rockies need to look like this:

C: Rosario
1B: Cuddyer
2B: Ruttledge
SS: Tulo
3B: Arenado
LF: Cargo
CF: Fowler
RF: Colvin

extras: Wheeler, Pacheco, EY JR, Helton (playing the Giambi role and once or twice a week a 1B), McBride

SP: Francis, DLR, Freidrich, Pomeranz, Chacin

RP: Belisle, Brothers, Nicasio (closer, he'd be perfect in this role), Reynolds, Ottavino and a few other randoms

Honestly this wouldn't be a half bad team if they got rid of that stupid 75 pitch count. And brought in some competent coaches.

That lineup could easily be a top 8 hitting lineup in all of baseball and the pitching staff doesn't look too awful, for sure better than this years staff. Its time to go young, its time to get rid of O'Dowd and the entire coaching staff. Its time for a complete overhaul.
That would probably be just about as bad a defensive team as there is in baseball.

And I have doubts about JDLR ever doing much again at the major league level. I'd really like to see Sanchez or white get a rotation spot next year.

Got to disagree with the defensive statement. Cargo and Tulo are gold glove caliber players. Arenado is known to be a solid defender at 3rd. Fowler and Colvin are both above average outfielders. Ruttledge has shown to be more than competent at SS which should translate to 2B. The only places you'd have deficiencies would be 1B where Cuddyer doesn't look comfortable and Rosario who hopefully can get better behind the plate.

I don't know why people think DLR will never be able to come back. There are multiple examples of player coming back just fine after TJ surgery. The best one I can think of off the top of my head is Strasburg who is looking pretty dominant.

White is looking more like a bullpen guy, he is really struggling with starting. And Sanchez is just not that good. He had one really good year for SF but guess what anybody can look good playing a majority of their starts in the ballpark. All in all, I'm not sold on Sanchez especially if it cost someone like Freidrich or Francis a spot in the rotation.

The defense is ok to me, but that pitching staff is horrible and unproven.

A bunch of #3-#5 pitchers, no solid closer in the group.

Sounds like Knowshon is actually going to make the team. Mcgahee, Hillman, and Moreno could be a good backfield if true.

I'd rather keep Lance Ball than Moreno.

Where are you hearing Moreno might actually make it? Because I think he has a monster battle on his hands. Hillman's basically going to take his job, and Ball is more of a pounding running back than Moreno is (which I think is the type of back Fox likes)

Moreno is going to be a better fit in this offense. He's a good option in the passing game.

Lance Ball is so...meh.

But so is Hillman. They're identical players. If McGahee goes down with an injury are you going to go with both Moreno and Hillman? I don't think either of those guys will wear anyone down but themselves in the 3rd/4th quarter. They're both scatbacks.

I guess they can try putting Lance Ball on the practice squad but I have a feeling he'll get picked up this time around. He's shown some flashes.

So once again further proof that the Rockies have the most incompetent GM in all of baseball. How does the 2nd worst team in all of baseball not do a complete roster dump on trade deadline day? Philly got the point, so did Houston and Florida but the Rockies keep all their overpaid vets like we are trying to make a run.

At minimum Hernandez, Betancourt, Herrera and Giambi should have been moved. I understand Giambi was hurt so there is still a chance we trade him during the waiver period. But the other 3 should have been gone. Get whatever you can and move on. None of these players factor into the future might as well get some prospects and see what happens.

Plus a more competent GM also might have figured out a way to get rid of Cuddyer for some quality prospects, and a really competent one would have figured out a way to trade Fowler and get a high quality pitcher. Don't give me the BS of Cuddyers contract was to hard to move, Philly got rid of Pence who made more and has another year on his contract. Fowler could have netted a solid pitcher, and he is the perfect player to trade because he has high value right now and we are loaded with outfield prospects.

Just another disappointing day for Rockies fans, once again the GM give the fans the big middle finger by not even attempting to dump dead weight and give us a little hope for the future. If the best you can do is dump Scutaro for a borderline prospect, your not doing your job. Learn to assess your team, admit your mistakes and man up and rebuild.

Chet I don't agree with you on most sports debates, but man you are 200% on point for this one bud.

What a freaking disaster.

I'm going to watch them play on Friday and Sunday. It's pretty much only just to go eat a brat and drink beer on Friday, and Sunday I'm taking my girlfriend that't not from here and has never seen baseball.

I can tell you that I live right by the stadium and there has been a lot less people coming to the park lately. Usually parking is a mess but I've found spots with no problem even during the games.

I agree, I always felt Moreno was built more like a slot receiver while Hillman reminds me of Lesean McCoy

Per Denver Post

Quote:
The Rockies are expected to announce a restructuring of responsibilities in their front office Wednesday, with general manager Dan O'Dowd staying in his position but focusing more on the minor leagues and player development while assistant general manager Bill Geivett is given expanded day-to-day duties with the major-league club.

hate to say it, but I'm not even satisfied with this move for the Rockies.

DOD's problem is that there IS no development in the system. That's why he's horrible as a GM. He's made decent trades (nothing incredibly bad) and ok free agent signings. The area where he's been horrid is the draft and development......sooooo...let's let DOD focus primarily on those two areas. cripes what are these people thinking.
