Also Sakic doesn't believe it should have gone to court:

Quote:
At the Team Canada training camp in Ottawa, Avalanche captain Joe Sakic expressed regret that the case was going to court.

"In my opinion, I don't think it should be in the courts,'' said the Colorado captain. "They should let the league handle it.''

Sakic believes the suspension was "harsh" and knows Bertuzzi genuinely feels bad about the incident.

Quote:
"It's pretty harsh,'' Sakic, speaking to reporters at the team's hotel, said of the ruling. "We know Todd feels bad about it and the league did what they had to do.

I completely agree. He should have been suspended for life and thrown in Millhaven max.

The report I heard was that Adam Foote had forgiven him as well. I don't remember where, maybe Sportsnet.

JOEY, he broke the neck of your teammate! I wonder what Sakic, Foote, and others would be saying if Bertuzzi had done this to Forsberg.

What does Forsberg have anything to do with it, I'm sure the reaction to Moore's injury would be the same for Forsberg's

Of course they haven't explicitly issued their forgivness. This could just be spin control and this is an organization that plays things close to the vest. This could also be media cherrypicking quotes.

I'll believe it after Bert's first game here and after I see how Moore reacts. Which is hardly Sakic's or Blake's brief.

BTW, any word on Bertuzzi's legal difficulties? The Score was reporting that he was considering taking a plea bargain.
It has nothing to do with hypocrisy, it has to do with what the IIHF can do legally. If they told Perezhogin he can't play, it would probably expose them to legal action. Legally Perezhogin can even play in the NHL if he makes the team out of camp. It's a loophole yes, but not hypocrisy. Plain and simple, the President of the AHL has no jurisdiction on anything except the AHL.
