Sutter demands more out of people. He is like a Dad.
The Kings players don't want to disappoint him. Sometimes as a Man, the worst feeling in the world is; knowing you disappointed someone you respect a lot.
I would try to resign him at a reduced rate, Think 2.5 to 3m for Two more years. I just think Loki/Vey are not ready yet.
disagree to an extend.
I personally dont think it has to do with Sutter, at least not 100%. When Sutter first came in, he was still playing like ****. Regardless of his faceoff skills, the guy was a mess and was extremely frustrating.
I truly believe what turned him around was during the playoffs. His inner self, like Penner said, "Wow I can't believe we almost swept the Canucks, I totally believe in this team!" He totally lit it up after scoring that game winner against Vancouver.
So overall, he changed himself. He became hungry, and he believed that this team could potentially go all the way.
As for being resigned, as much as I love how he is doing so well atm, I still question his ability long term. Just like Penner, I am willing to do a hometown contract but with only a 1 year or 2 years commitment.
But that's what is so puzzling! His role has been third-line center all year, and for large stretches he's been ineffective. Is Sutter managing his match-ups better? Is playing with Lewis and King what it's really about?
Sutter's forecheck is more aggressive than Murray's so players are able to use their speed to create chaos rather than sit on their heels and wait.
Sutter's system is letting players with some speed and aggressiveness shine.
