How to break in pads/glove

My blocker feels fine, that's why I'm just focusing on pads and glove.

I finally got my stuff, and I'm wondering how to break it in. I also have to figure out on to get them on comfortable and right

Right now, when I go down the pads would lay flat on the floor (or ice) leaving the tops of knees very exposed. Instead of the pads facing outwards.

Any advice would be great. I'll post pictures in the thread of equipment soon.

For gloves, throw it in a skate oven at the shop you bought them from.
