MLB Network To Air Playoff Games

http://www.broadcastingcable.com/art...ason_Games.php

The league-owned network will carry two Divisional playoff games, while TBS airs the new Wild Card playoff games.

Seems like a poor decision on MLB's part based on the number of households that have MLB Network.

You both agree, he just phrased it differently.

I'm actually not sure this is a bad idea. When the NFL network started getting exclusive games it started to gain major traction. I don't think it will work quite as well for MLB games but I bet it has an affect on what cable packages it is in.

I'd bet the local markets will still have local coverage so that probably won't be an issue.

No I was asking him if thats what he meant, if it was then I agree.

I don't think there are local broadcasts in the 1st round of the MLB Playoffs. I think the NBA/Hockey do it for like the first 2 rounds?(I know the NBA does)

No local broadcasts in the playoffs for MLB. The NBA and NHL each do it for a round.

Correct, however, an over-the-air channel is allowed to pick up the national feed of the game in the local market of the team.

This seems like a great way to expand the profile of MLBN and hopefully get it in more homes.

Unless you put it on standard cable I doubt it. In this crappy economy people aren't going to wanna buy satelite's/Direct TV's and such.

Eh, I get it through the Sports Entertainment Pack with Comcast. $8 a month is well worth it for MLB Network, Fox Soccer, NFL Network, etc.

It seems quite obvious that this is a move to persuade more cable companies to pick up MLB Network.
