Alternative Hardcore Music: Post-Hardcore, Metalcore, Emocore, New Screamo

I know there is a metal thread, but most metal heads hate this type of stuff so I figured I'd make a different thread.

For all the friends I have that listen to this type of music, I find it pretty crazy the negative reaction we get for listening to it. Was wondering if there is anyone else at HF into it?

I'm surprised there's still people listening to post-hardcore music. Thought the turn would've happened already, the same way it happened with nu-metal before it, alternative before that, grunge before that and hair metal before that. Every school generation, every 4-5 years, has their thing and metalcore was that from the mid oughts.

Man, Soundgarden and Alice and Chains are on classic rock stations now, that means in 10 years it'll be One Step Closer and Down With The Sickness. What a crazy world.

I used to listen to it a ton but it just started getting boring.. Especially with the singers that would bounce around with new bands producing the same crap

Fantastic choice! They have In Fear and Faith's old vocalist and he's done a great job.

I was really into screamo and hardcore when I was in high school and a couple years after it. But now I only listen to it when I'm in a certain mood for it. I still like Chiodos, Alesana, etc., don't get me wrong, but I have to be in the right mood. I don't mean happy, sad, whatever, I just have different music moods. I'm weird.

All I will contribute to this thread is that I'm glad Rise Records started signing some solid bands like Hot Water Music, Bouncing Souls, Make Do and Mend etc..

That label has been the butt end of a joke for years

Alesana's The Emptiness album was pretty awesome.. As a big Edgar Allan Poe fan, that album was almost perfect in my eye for a few months

This thread would be better if you posted actual good post-hardcore, metalcore, and new screamo bands instead. I mean, no offense, but you used Attack Attack as an example.

First album : awesome
Second : not so much

Kyle is terrible at singing live while David carries the performance with near perfect screams

My friends used to be in a band for this kind of music. I used to love it but it's beginning to wear on me.

Enter Shikari= By far the best post-hardcore band.

Also a big fan of The Fall of Troy, Bring Me The Horizon, and The Devil Wears Prada. Chiodos has some good stuff too, both new and old (let's be honest, Craig Owens is the most laughably pathetic human being on earth and the epitome of why this genre has a bad name, well partially).

I hated Attack Attack! but I actually liked song by them in the OP. We Came as Romans have some good stuff too.

My friend's band. On the lighter side of hardcore ("easycore" I think they call it), in the vein of Four Year Strong or ADTR. They've played Warped Tour and all that good stuff, and I believe they've got a new album coming out sometime this summer.

For the people saying Attack Attack! are bad, there not Stick Stickly techno anymore. That song in the OP is very similar to their new stuff. No more auto tune.

One cool band to check out is Our Last Night. When the screamer joined he was 11 years old, so looking at their older stuff then their newer stuff is cool. You can actually see the progression of his voice.

I'm super excited for For All Those Sleeping's new album. They just released another lyric video.

Sweet, thanks for posting. I like this song more then the other, although the other one is great as well.

Anyone who is a fan of newer atreyu should really check out hell or highwater. The drummer from atreyu is the lead singer.
