Mario Lemieux, I respected him for not demanding a trade like so many superstars do nowadays instead of waiting for their teams to grow into contenders, also his deffering of money in order to win was something I respected.
His dazzling skill and the fact that when he was diagnosed with cancer and made his grand return, it happened when I was young and didn't quite understand cancer, but helped me deal with my own families brush with cancer...

Well when i was younger and first started watching the habs Patrick Roy was a big idle to me. Since then guys like Steve Yzreman, Gretzky, joe Sakic, and Saku Koivu have been important.
