I would not say that...

He did not want to be coached by Mario Tremblay. Demers was his #1 fan and second father for many years. Roy never accepted that tremblay got the head coaching job.

I'm old enough to remember all those trades pretty well and, for me, McD and Chelios are similarly painful.

Roy asked to be traded and there was some Roy fatigue going around and people didn't fully realize the impact when the trade happened.

What made the Chelios trade extremely hard to swallow was to see him give a solid 15+ years of hockey playing for other teams, well beyond the end of Savard's career.

McD, if healthy, has the potential to do the same. He may even be nominated or win a Norris some day. At least Chelios was out of sight in the Western Conference.

Roy, Ribeiro, Higgins, Chelios, Carbonneau were all traded for weird reasons, not related to their skills and/or production.

Turgeon & Desjardins, two very talented and productive guys.

LeClair and McDonagh... Well... Ayoye !!!!
Going back the Langway and Mark Hunter trades were bad as well. That was many years ago but those are exactly the type of players the Habs need. Maybe Tinordi will turn out to be a Langway.
