I have a gut feeling that Slovakia will take this.

On paper Russia should win with relative comfort but games are not played on paper.

Slovakia have a great team spirit and a great deal of skill and they have already overcome Canada and the Czech Republic and have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Laco has been on fire as well. Chara and company will have to log an enormous amount of ice time which may count against them as will the injuries to Hossa and Starosta.

One would expect a Russian win but I am sure Billy will have drummed any complacency out of his players. Russia to just edge this one if the first period is tight.

Do the Slovaks really have only five healthy defensemen? Do you expect one of the forwards to move to defense or will Chara move into an even bigger role?

If we're lose this, it will be because our decimated defense and the fact one of our 5 defensmen is Sersen. He is terrible.

Good luck to both of you.
Thanks. Many Slovaks fans are annoyed with Demitra, including me. Leave him rest in peace wherever is he. Sure, he was great player but no. Petrovicky, Satan or Chara loved to play for Slovakia more. I.e. Petrovicky litteraly escaped from his NA team to play on WC.

Yeah, I think the same. Every other shift and TOI 30 or more. He is used to this role and his style is not much powerspending - he mostly clear the crease area.

Yeah, Granak has broken hand and Starosta is out with broken rib or shoulder.
I think, if we win, performances of Chara and Laco would be legendary.

During this tournament I was much more afraid, when Vydareny with Starosta were on ice.

Well, those facebook pages "Let's make milion clicks for Pavol" were really annoying. But when I see Kopecky kissing his gloves with eyes looking up, or Radivojevic with his Demitra shirt under hockey dress, it's something complete different.

I remember what Peter Stastny said when Petrovicky left his AHL team for tournament - "it was very stupid, somebody has adviced him very wrong. professional cannot do that". Fact is, that he would never do that, certainly, if he was playing for NHL team at the moment. But ok, this can reserve special place for Petrovicky. But how did you measure and compare love for national team from Satan, Chara and Demitra?

I'm rooting for Slovakia because it would be fun if Slovaks would win gold in Finland when Finns won gold in Slovakia .

Yes I did, because MTL vs WSH MTL vs PIT seems to me as very similar matchup as SVK vs RUS.

Yesterday Finland played good, was able to controll the game untill 3-1 cold shower.. Russia was just that much better, those players can put the puck in the net. We lost to better team, so I have nothing against russia here anymore, but just got to cheer for Slovakia, they are smaller country like Finland and we won in Bratislava so it would be nice if they won in Helsinki now.

But the truth is they haveto play excellent game, russia should have not their best game, and slovakian goalie must be on fire.. Its like 7 times of 10 for Russians maybe.

That's a superstition just like the home ice curse, ice is a frozen water polished by zamboni.

Alright, Slovaks! Show some small country spirit and sportsmanship! You're an example to other nations!

Russia wins because they bring available players. Of course, its Russia's fault that some of these players are top-ranked superstars.

As I think about it, I wouldn't mind Slovakia winning, but for totally selfish reasons. I don't want Russians in the future to take away from CZE title of the last country that won 3 WC's in a row. However I see no chance Malkin can be beaten today.
