Its clear that we arent good enough to grab hold of a series. Three series of evidence are enough to see that.

Combination of our lack of offense, and the fact that I think we're running of fumes now. Dont think we have the energy level to play a full 60 minutes of good hockey anymore. Its like "we can play well in spurts, then hold on and hope Hank becomes a wall".

its gonna be our downfall. the reason we look so sluggish now is cuz we couldnt put ottawa or washington away when we had a chance. we've looked tired this entire series, lundqvist is the reason its 2-2, period. if bryzgalov was our goalie we'd have been swept, with every game looking like tonite.

lack of talent. lack of energy. lack of motivation. playing 6 minutes of hockey a night won't cut it. if hank lets in a single goal we lose all momentum. the crowd saved us last game. tonight we weren't so lucky.

we didn't deserve to win any this series as a team. hank and our leadership are the only ones doing squat.

edit-- by lack of talent i mean as a whole as well as talent performing. we have a few talented guys, but everybody else is a grinder. compare gaborik to kovi...

this team is no offensive powerhouse so it's not really a surprise. they are powered by grit and gutty performances meaning every series is most likely gonna go to the absolute limit. i have a gut feeling this is going to 7 too.

True.

It's not about lack of effort of lack of preparation. It's about the other team being just as good as us and most of these games being coin flips.
I hope and pray that what my eyes are telling me (we are physically fatigued and unable to keep up with devils pace) is not true and that yesterday was just a bad game.
we've been playing 4 1/2 defensemen for over a month (18 games). Those guys are on fumes.

The 2012 Rangers are now 0-7 in playoff games where they have a chance to take a 2-game lead in a series.

Complacency.
Inability to match the other teams desperation.

Check out the kinds of games they've played following a win.

They're filled with mental mistakes. At times the effort isn't there either. Gm 6 Caps sticks out like a sore thumb.

They take full advantage of 'we have home ice for game 7'. Sure you do, but you don't want to do that every round...

This team is lucky to even be 2-2 in the series, they have only outplayed the devs in 2 maybe 3 periods out of 9 (and 3 is a stretch). The Devs have been the better team by far and if not for Herick the first 2 periods in game 3 we would be down 3-1 easily.

I would have been okay with it if they at least almost looked like they were pretending to try. Did they not know they had a game, or what?

The Devils don't play a grind out style though.

No killer instinct. Its getting bizarre at this point.

The only positive that can be said is that theyve been able to outperform the opposition all playoffs when both teams are equally desperate.

But they are really playing with fire this series - depending far too much on Lundqvist.

So they should abandon the style theyve played for 100 games...against a team laden with more talent no less?

Sounds smart.

I don't think it's fair to say they don't have a killer instinct. This isn't a team that blew teams out during the regular season. It's just more apparent and compacted in short series.

Very well, but what is the excuse at this point for not being able to match the oppositions intensity as soon as they get a 1 game lead in a series? Theres just no excuse for last night's 1st period in my mind. Theyve been on a long enough playoff run to know that the Devils were going to come out guns-a-blazing, and they had no answer for it whatsoever.

The excuse is they're gassed.

And let's be honest, they didn't match the Devil's intensity in Game 3.

The team plays better with an edge. Start the 4th line every game, get the blood pumping and the hate going.

Gotta imagine that the stats will eventually turn in our favor at some point. I wonder what the longest losing streak is for teams given a chance to take a 2-game lead.

Youre absolutely right. One can argue they've been outplayed in every game of this series and theyre lucky to be even.

Ill buy the gassed excuse for the defense, most of whom have been playing ridiculous minutes - but they actually havent been that bad all things considered. The offense is a different story - noones minutes have been completely out of whack, and Im still wondering where this disappearing act from Gaborik, Callahan, Richards, Stepan, etc is coming from.

What I find ironic is that most fans are saying that we have been totally outplayed this series yet we won 2 games by 3 goals each and were a goal away in game 2.
