Just wanted to throw in here that the Nash to NY idea may be coming back. I personally think its still dead, but the more I watch the rangers the more I can't see them not making a move for scoring in the off season. They are completely at the mercy of how good a night King Henrik is having and even when they dominate the puck possession game like they did tonight they lack the offensive talent to do something with an established zone presence. I don't think they will change their offer much from what they had at the deadline but I really think their in on Nash no matter the outcome of the playoffs, their offensive problems are just so obvious.

With Gaborik, Richards, Kreider, Callahan, Fedetenko, and a bunch of decent other players you'd think they could score more.

Only one of their goals last night was a solid goal and even that one i thought Brodeur should have stopped. The deflection off the skate and the Brodeur misplay were gifts.

I've been reading rumors that they may target Parise in free agency. To me he fits the Rangers better than Nash so that could be another variable to consider.

And the more I think about their offer it has to include either Stahl or Del Zotto (they aren't giving up one of the top 2 D) for it to work for me. On the other hand with the cap expanding they could get Parise without giving up anything.

On and off, mostly on. We've always had plenty of LW, rarely enough RW's.

IMHO this is to much to give up to move one spot, methot may not be anyone's favorite, but he has more value than moving up one spot. Besides, it seems even odds that Edmonton is going to pick murray at one so why trade anything when there yakupov is as likely as not to drop to us at 2?
I think it comes down to the value of Methot. I don't like the deal, but its not unreasonable either.

Personally, though I don't like that contract, I feel he is as good or better in his own end than anyone on this roster, and I'm not sure how easily that skillset can be replaced.

They're a bit short on wingers - the only ones that score high on a regular basis are Alfie and Michalek, and both of them play on their top line. The best we could probably do is Nick Foligno - and while I like him, I'm not convinced he can play a regular top-6 role. It'd be worth investigating, though.

I don't see Philly wanting yet another second-pairing guy. That and see previous posts of mine re: Fear And Loathing Of Van Reimsdyk.

I think I'd sooner try to get Jake back.

I'd see about adding Omark to that deal. That and no Edmonton fan here would go for that because they want to be able to rip a team off for the 1st overall - which is understandable, if perhaps a bit unlikely.

Incidentally, I've had all sorts of bad pun line names in mind going into the offseason. The best two so far:

* Trade for Colin Wilson (or, alternatively, sign Samuelsson), and put him on a line with Johansen and Atkinson.
Line name: Line Of The Rising Son.

* Trade for Foligno, and put him on a line with MacKenzie and Dorsett.
Line name: Line Drive.

That is why i posted the proposal here. Edmonton fans currently want an elite player and your firstborn son for the pick.

Not just for the pick - they want that to trade up one spot.

It's truly insane.

Trade him to Vancouver for Kesler (add?), draft Yakupov, the team is now filled with Americans and Russians. Good combo.

In all honesty, I would really, really like another Top 5 pick for Nash.

For

Krejci + Lucic + Khudobin + 1st?

Lucic + Dorsett on a line would be fun to watch.
With our 1st line being Lucic-Krecji-Horton, and with Horton having 2 major concussions in a 1 year span, I highly doubt Chiarelli offers up both Luci AND Krecji.

Moves

-Trade Nash for Plekanec and 3rd Overall
-Trade Mason to anyone, if possible, otherwise buyout
-Draft Murray at 2, and Forsberg at 3 (Murray and Forsberg should wait a year before joining the Jackets so that they aren't rushed... Forsberg will slide into Prospal's spot when his 1 year deal is up)
-RyJo to the AHL (RyJo should play in the AHL until he beats out Brassard for the second-line Center spot)
-Sign Andrei Kostitsyn (familiar with Plekanec) and Josh Harding (familiar with Richards)

Josh Harding has too many injury concerns for it to be "him or Sanford."

So who would you have instead?

It's your plan, I'm just pointing out that Harding missed all of 2010-2011 and significant portions of 2011-2012 with injury. Sanford also is notorious for his injury problems.

I like TM89's proposed roster with Nash going to Montreal. But if we picked up the third pick to go with our second, it would almost assure that Edmonton will pick Murray at No. 1. They would know that there is no chance that we would not include Murray as one of our two picks. So it seem likely that we would wind up with both Yak and Forsberg at 2 and 3.

I would also think that the Rangers are back in the market for Nash after seeing how bad their offensive production has been through out the playoffs. Certainly if NJ eliminates them in 6, there is going to be soul searching in the Rangers front office.

UFA route= harding, or clemmensen, maybe dan ellis or perhaps gustavson

Trade route= bryzgalov, niemi, greiss, or crawford

of course crawford would only become available if Luongo goes to CHI.... if Luongo goes to PHI though, then i could see Mason for Bryz... but who knows. i know a lot of ppl hate bryz right now because he looked so streaky, but i have confidence he'll rebound wherever he's at

thanks!

but if EDM goes with Murray and that leaves yak at 2, then at 3 there's extra incentive to pick the other russian, galchenyuk, as opposed to forsberg. that way, by drafting 2 russians, they may be more willing to play AND stay in columbus. either way, if columbus can get two of the top-4 picks in this draft, they will get two very talented players.

We have two Russians on the squad, Fedor Tyutin and Nikita Nikitin, both of whom are important parts of the defense and are unlikely to be going anywhere soon.

Galchenyuk is American.

Montreal isn't on Nash's list is it? Other than that I like the idea of having 2&3 in the draft plus Plekanec.

Has actually lived in six different countries according to the bio I read. His dad is Russian and a former hockey player but they moved back to Chicago so Alex could pursue his hockey career. He is represented by HOF'er Igor Liriononv. Most opinions voiced to date I have seen don't point to a KHL conflict.

And as mentioned there is a Russian prescience. One of Nikitin's problems was the language, as I understand he lived with Tyutin and his wife as least for while and has to all appearances been adjusting well, so there is some built in support in place. Just in case either should fall to the Jackets.

My apologies, misread the bio. Played hockey in Russia, it was I that then assumed he was Russian.
