Are you sure it's the NHL? I heard he wanted to come back but in a Euro League. I think he is done in the NHL.
Never mind, I saw a updated link for Hasek. I still think he is done. But I would take him in Columbus as a backup/mentor for a young starter.

Also, Parise to NYR. NYR are always interested in big name players. Apparently his Dad feels he fits best in NY. Can't remember why he said, maybe Parise was a fan of the Rags growing up. That's the problem. I'm sure Howson would prefer to get a trade done before or during the draft. UFa doesn't begin until July 1st. Rangers might want to go after Parise first(don't give up assets) and if they lose out on him, then they go after Nash. Is Howson willing to wait for the Rangers? If you make a trade at the draft, you know what your lineup looks like heading into July 1st and then you make offers to fill in the rest of the lineup. You wait for Sather, you don't know what your lineup looks like. By the time you do, other players Howson was interested in might be signed by other teams.

I would hope Howson does not wait for Sather. Instead, he forces Sather's hand. To me it would be very risky for Sather to assume he can get Parise and sit out the Nash bidding.

If I'm Sather I'd rather have Parise than Nash. All I need is a deep checkbook which I have and if Parise wants to cross the river the Rangers are a better team.

If I am Howson, I know that I can't screw this deal up. And I must have some kind of feel for what I can (might) get from the Rangers based on the trade deadline talks. Kreider is about 99.9% out of the question. So what is left? Dubinsky,Erixon,#28 in the draft, and what else? Unless I think they will throw in Del Zotto or Stahl I'm not sure what else I want. Stepan was pretty much a no show against the Devils. Anisimov has heart but I don't know. Boyle? meh.

I think Howson knows the Ranger offer will come up short of some others and he will take the first one that meets his desired return.

Still think that some kind of answer on the goalie front needs to happen before Nash's situation can be addressed which needs to happen before the draft.

There has been some discussion of moving a piece to obtain the rights to a UFA goalie, Harding/Vokun? Does it not make sense? The goalie situation HAS to be addressed, it has to be the primary offseason concern once it is resolved then the rest of need vs assets can be addressed.

Oh well, just my two cents.

Well for many reasons I also would prefer Parise to Nash. But there is a gamble for Sather in whether NJ will try to outbid him.

The first thing I did in my NHL 12 franchise was trade Nash for Parise. Parise got the Hart and resigned for 6 years.

Galychenyuk and yakupov would be the perfect combination to play with atkinson. Having already played with each other for a season would be great chemistry from the get. Some people are saying the galy has more upside and potential then yakupov and hes gonna be pretty damn special. I would gladly trade nash for yakupov and galychenyuk considering somebody else would be packaged with it.

Yes, Pete, it is. Actually, it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land."

I believe that makes the earliest known instance of "trolling" in North America.

Europe predates this by several hundred years, calling a frozen desert "Greenland" and a lush area with hot springs "Iceland".

Then again, as Mr. Cooper went on to point out, they've had several socialist mayors. So, maybe not so different from the Belarus of the 1980's.

This is the exact trade being discussed by Bruins fans.

Krejci and Rask for Nash. Rask is ready to play as the starter but Thomas isn't ready to retire. Seguin is ready to take the center role in Boston.

It may be considered overpayment considering Nash and Krejci's age and numbers, but that is what Howson seems to be demanding. The numbers work in Boston as well.

Nonetheless, the point of my earlier post was to propose deals that centered around acquiring a goalie, adding a roster player, and possibly a pick too.

Again, thanks everyone.

Also, would this SJ package be more appealing? Nash for Pavelski and Niemi.... or is having Clowe and a 1st round pick plus Niemi better from your perspectives?
I think this is a bit off. He was the top scorer in the Cup run and is a great centerman in the NHL. Easily top six center for another decade.

Problem is, Boston has Seguin ready to transition to his natural position at center, and they have Bergeron as the 2nd line center and Peverley as the #3. That leaves the signed, talented Krejci as a great chip to add a 30 goal scorer.

I'd do that trade with Boston and send RyJo to Springfield to play the year as their #1 center. As I've previously stated, I'd waive Mason for the purpose of sending him to Springfield as well. Looks like GMSH will be active in the free agent market.

TBD - Krejci - TBD
Prospal - Brassard - Atkinson
Umberger - Letestu - Dorsett
Boll - MacKenzie - Gilles

Johnson - Wiz
Tyutin - Nikitin
Methot - Moore
Savard

Rask
TBD

Looks pretty good. Sub Sanford as the backup, draft Yak and put him on 2nd line right wing. Move up Cam to the 1st line. Look into FA for a guy like Semin, Parenteau etc that can play top 6 minutes. Most likely we'll just have RJ fill that spot, tis the Howson way.

Any chance Prospal is on the top line to play with fellow country men, David Kreji? Then you bump up Umberger to the 2nd line. Umberger/Brassard/Atkinson did have chemistry to end the season so maybe you stick with that line. But like you, I feel Umberger is best suited for the 3rd line and adds scoring to that line.
If Umberger is on the 2nd line, I would love to sign Fedetenko for our 3rd line LW spot but I see him returning to NY.

If we go by your lines, any interest in these players/would these players consider us?

Won't bother mentioning Parise/Semin/Doan/Whitney.

So we have these option..
LW
Hudler
Penner
RW
Parenteau
Stempniak
Samuelsson
Sykora
Jones
Boyes

I can see us signing Boyes/Samuelsson.

Yep, you can. Alex Galchenyuk played for the Chicago Young Americans (which Jared Boll, John Moore and Brett Lebda also played for) prior to going to the OHL.

Agree wholeheartedly.

And as far as 4th line goes-all of NJ's 4th liners- Gionta,Carter & Bernier are all UFA's. Love to see the Jackets add one of them, though I suspect the Devils sign them. Then again, Lou L is a cheap guy so maybe one can be had. Let Boyce go. Sign two and let Boll go.

Heck, sign all 3 and let them lead us to the Cup finals.

Doesn't necessarily have to be Kostitsyn. Alternatives include Jiri Hudler (on the high end) and Mikael Samuelsson or Brad Boyes (on the low end).

Personally, I'd take that plan with a Hudler, and also add Steve Sullivan on the RW and dump Boyce.

We need goals on that top line. I think the guy we want at right wing is P-A Parenteau.

Which leads me to another question. Help me to understand what the deal is with Semin. Why don't they want him in Washington?
