I don't really see an opportunity to build an offensive 3rd line this summer, and yes defense should be the primary focus of that line right now, IMO.

Part of the reason Benn played the toughest minutes last year was how bad Fiddler was. That line may have some minuses because they aren't scoring a ton, but they'd be much more effective at neutralizing top players than what Dallas had last year, IMO.

The Stars probably have one of the worst collections of d-men in the whole league, so that's not really saying much.

I don't think any line with Steve Ott as its center is going to be solid defensively.

I wouldn't mind trading some minor assets for Bozak so either him or Eakin can center the 3rd line. That seems like a pretty good fit as well, depending on what Toronto needs (which is centers too, IIRC).

It'd give us a chance to acquire a salary dump as well.

There is a reason I stay out of the 'Trade Rumours' section on HF. Is that Montreal-Dallas proposal there the worst trade proposal I've ever seen including Dallas or have I missed something big? Wow.

It's probably the worst, excluding some of those Benn/Eriksson proposals.

He hasn't for a few years though I believe. He's primarily a LW which still works fine for us.

At least we're not trying to get out of mediocrity the way the Flames are.

They're thrashing about in quicksand.

The more that franchise does things, the more I'm convinced they're purposely trying to screw themselves.

Some Avs fans were saying he is best as a center after all the injuries you know and he needs a big winger to get the puck in the corners for him, maybe Vincour or if Morrow returns to form.

I'm okay with it. Maybe if we got both Ray Whitney AND Shane Doan if Phoenix relocates...

I wonder what kind of contract he will demand though. My original thought was he was 37yo, give him 3 years at 4.5-5, but seeing that he's 40 coming off a 77 point year, I can't even come up with an idea for a contract (besides something no more than 2 years).

That's all they talked about during the playoffs when Phoenix games were on.
