You would think that for a team like the Rangers, financial flexibility would be more important than some of the talent in the prospect pool. Meaning they could allocate more resources to help the big league club. Now how that all equates in terms of prospects is for GMJN to decide.

Interesting idea, but Redden doesn't really hurt us. Frankly, he's been a good soldier in the AHL and really helped to mentor our young D (McD, MDZ and Erixon have all spent some time under his wing). I'm still shocked by how positive he's been about it (I still remember when he vented to the media after getting benched once before the demotion).

He's not exactly an asset (if someone wanted him for nothing, I doubt the Rangers would stand in his way), but he doesn't hurt us at all either, so I can't see the team paying anyone to take him.

We're actually in pretty good shape financially. Drury's buyout hit is almost gone, and after that, Redden is the only bad contract on the team. They actually have a decent chunk of cap space to spend if they were so inclined (though it would seem that the most expensive players in the FA pool this summer--notably Parise--aren't interested in NY). By the time Sather needs to free up some cash to pay for new contracts on McD and co, Redden's contract will be off the books.

A 2nd would probably be fair value considering it'll likely be a late one. I think Robidas has more value around the league than he does here on Hfboards, so I don't think its out of the question.

Dallas probably won't do it though because we need RH D-men and the fact Robidas slipped love potions into everyone's Gatorade back in the 09 postseason.

Didn't see it posted but Schultz said no to us. Big shocker and all.

Don't know too much about him as a player but have a pretty good feeling he's not going to set the world on fire or anything.

I just hope they close that loop whole in the new CBA. If one of our picks pulled that we'd be livid. I guess the least they could do is offer compensatory picks to teams that have that happen. Would certainly take some of the risk off of drafting Russians as well.

...yeah, we don't need him, we have Robidas
I'm just very curious to see how our free agent pickup does in the short term future: Dillon.

Totally. They need to fix it pretty quick or other peeps who aren't happy with where they were drafted will be looking to do this on the reg.

Another Dallas note from TFP ... still says nothing though:

I'm expecting Joe Nieuwendyk to spread his wings a little, now that he can... Stars could look pretty different within a couple of weeks.

If anyone can translate French...
http://tvasports.ca/tvasports/hockey...27-232016.html

Apparently Habs looking for Otter.

Edit: I looked at the google translation and it said we've talked about Louis Leblanc and Lars Eller.

Seems like Jokinen wants 3+ years. Not sure I'm interested in bringing him in for that long...

The most I'd offer Jokinen is 2 years (kind of like Ryder's contract). Faksa should be NHL ready and take the 2C position afterwards.

2 years at whatever he wants (as long as it's not like 6+M). That's what I'd offer.

I wonder how much Dallas would have to add to Ott to get Plekanec from Montreal.
