And to go even deeper, what stops a disgruntled former official from writing a tell-all? Actually, it doesn't even need to be a disgruntled former official. It could be a former, or current, officials in dire financial straits.
Because Bettman has eyes and ears everywhere. So when he found out that one of the refs was going to write the book, he'd send his "enforcer", likely Shanahan, to whack him.
So, in order for this to happen, the players on the other teams themselves would have to actively be in on it. The game they spent their entire lives working for, and their love of the game, is all cast aside so the Rangers can win. The cast members must be upset.
Seriously though, if you thought this were true, why are you even watching/posting? Without integrity, the league is nothing.
If it got out that there was any kind of fixing of results, the NHL would go down like a ton of bricks. The league is super focused on keeping the integrity of the game. Look @ it from an owners standpoint. The avg team is worth 300 million dollars. If the league went down due to fixing results, the owners would lose that kind of money.
Integrity of the game issues are the most important issue in any sport. Without integrity, the game would cease to exist.
No OFFENSE (lmao) to the OP, but NYR would be lucky to win a game in the SCF against LA.
Theyve barely gotten by as it is, scoring lucky, ugly goals when they need them and Lundqvist has had one of the easier playoff runs in recent memory, considering only 30-40% of the shots taken even get to him.
The Rangers are manufacturing wins and playing system hockey. As soon as they see a legit #1 goaltender like Quick, and a big tough LA team, its game over.
The only way this conspiracy is ever even tried is if the people in charge are too stupid to think of all of the ways it could go wrong, and if they are too stupid to think of all of the ways it can go wrong it will go wrong.
Not to mention that someone could very well blow the whistle on this conspiracy and let the media have a field day.
