Not a chance. Not even close.

No interest in trading Spezza unless a potential #1 centre is coming back.
Neil is too important too this young team.

I would think the purpose of getting sharp would be the pair him with Spezza not to trade spezza for him that doesn't make sense

Funny I don't see Toews anywhere in the deal.

I like Sharp, but I think you misspelled Kane.

If we made this trade, this leaves us with Turris as our 1C. I like Turret, but he's NOT a 1C. Spezza finished 4th in league scoring with a very inferior team around him for the most part. You want us to give him up, along with Neil (great heart and soul guy, protects and sets a great example for the younguns), and by far the best young goalie prospects we've ever had in this goalie graveyard for Sharp, Hjammer (like him, but he's overpaid for what he brings), a prospect, and a 2nd?

No x 99999999999.

Why would Ottawa trade Spezza? Sharp is a great 2nd line center...what's Ottawa's motivation for this?

PS Kane wouldn't interest the Sens in a Spezza deal either.

Why don't people on here look at trades tehy propose from both teams points of view? So odd.

This one is tough. I understand where the OP was trying to go for, but it simply doesn't make sense for Ottawa, nor is the value entirely there either.

Spezza>Sharp

Sharp is a fantastic player that every team in the league would love to have. However, he isn't Spezza caliber, and it leaves Ottawa with a huge hole down the middle, which is our weak spot in the top six.

McNeil>Neil

McNeil is a fantastic prospect, and again, most teams would love to have him. However, Neil serves as a great veteran presence on an extremely young Ottawa team, and Ottawa would probably prefer a defensive prospect anyways. Already have forward prospects stocked pretty well.

Bishop/Lehner> 2nd

Technically speaking, both of these players were acquired with 2nd rounders for Ottawa, and neither have done anything to lower their value. For an organization that has suffered historically at the goalie position, these young goalies are worth FAR more than a 2nd to them as a franchise.

Hammer

He's a great piece for sure, and Ottawa would to have him, just not at the cost of the rest of the package.

I may be a homer, but it looks like Ottawa is giving up too much for too little.

Lol, no chance Ottawa considers this. Spezza means way to much to them to trade him away for this.

Keep going, at some point you are bound to stumble on a trade that is not downright horrible.

Spezza approximately equals Sharp+McNeil+2nd (Ottawa still wouldnt make that trade due to having no 1 line calibre centers besides Spezza)
Neil+Bishop/Lehner > Hammer
Just no way Ottawa makes this trade

Man this is an unbelievably bad proposal for Ottawa. I wouldn't do that package for Spezza alone. Only way your getting Spezza if at least Toews+a first and maybe more is coming back.

If you want Toews you'd have to at least add Lehner + a 1st to Spezza to get Stan Bowman to consider it.

The 4th leading scorer in the NHL (surrounded by AHLers, no less) is worth LESS than Toews? Toews is great, no question, but Spezza has at least as much value, and possibly more.

Adding Lehner and a 15th overall to Spezza is just a joke.

Are you serious? Toews ppg was only .08 less than Spezza's, while being light years ahead defensively. Not to mention that Toews has scored more points than Spezza the last 2 years, while being MUCH better defensively. He is also 5 years younger. Toews has much more value than Spezza, and this is coming from a Blackhawks/Toews hater.

Are you seriously suggesting that Toews is better than Spezza? Toews has had best seasons of 68, 69 and 76 points. Spezza had 71 assists in 68 games in 05-06. Spezza has hit 90 twice, in 76 and 68 game seasons, and hit 87 in 67. This year he was 4th in points. Intangibles go a long way but only so far. Kyle Turris plays just of a well rounded defensive game as Toews does, yet nobody speaks of him in that light.

Spezza is better than Toews and it really isn't close. At all.

So what your saying is that Toews outperformed someone who played a whopping 62 and 60 games?
