I feel sorry for whichever qualifier gets stuck with Russia/Slovakia/USA.

Not thrilled with the grouping (obviously) but you eventually have to come out on top over most of the top teams anyway to win it all. Plus, we saw having a bye doesn't necessarily mean good things last time around. Just get in that top two for the group, US.

It's obviously a Canadian conspiracy involving the refs and the IIHF to guarantee Canada the gold.

Posters complain that Canada makes excuses when we lose. Yet they make excuses when we win.

Anyway, I am not sure being in such a weak group serves us well in 2014.

Compared to 2010, this group is "easier". Then again, we only beat Norway 3-2 and needed OT to beat Switzerland. Wouldn't be shocked at all if Finland beat us in the group stage.

On the small ice, yes. On the big ice, I agree with you.

If the NHL'ers don't go, and the KHL'ers do, 2014 will just end up being a joke anyway.

U are right. Last olympics canada beat norway 8-0. Last time we played Canada in 2011 (whc) it ended 3-2.

Still I have to say that Norway got alot better goalies now then in 2010.

in that case, NHL would end up being a joke before anything else.

Ironically, both games were 3-0 in the 3rd period

Yupp. Well in the Olympics we got some injuries in the Canada game. Skrøder got injured and he is a top 3 forward on our team. Also our first goalie (Grotnes) got injured and after he left the ice, then Canada scored a bunch of goals.

In that 2011 whc u had a 3 goal lead, but we scored some good goals in the third. Not a bad game by Norway. I still think that our team has improved alot since those 2 tournaments. Better goalies like Volden (drafted by Bruins) and Lars Haugen (Dinamo minsk, shakter soligorsk). Those guys are better than that carpenter Grotnes

Hopefully we will play well defensively vs Canada and Finland in 2014. In order to do that we need a few more Ds in SEL

Personally I think getting that bye into the Quater Finals doesn't mean that much. Yes Canada had to play an extra game just so they could play Russia in the Quater Finals, however everyone knew there was no chance they lose to Germany and they really weren't tested.

Finland can be dangerous on big ice. AndI if they'll have a red hot guy between the pipes, they are really tough to beat
