Which non-canadian would make Team Canada?

Canada is hockeys country, but would they make up 50 percent or more of a Team World?

Stamkos-Crosby-Ovechkin
Zetterberg-Malkin-Tavares
Steen-Datsyuk-Kane
Benn-Toews-Perry
Getzlaf, Backes

Karlsson-Suter
Subban-Weber
Ekman-Larsson-Keith
Pietrangelo-Doughty

Rask
Niemi

Price

Nope, only 12 of 25.

You think Price is the 3rd best goalie in the world?

I take Giroux or Marty St-Louis ahead of Steen easily. Either of those two with Datsyuk and Kane? Yes please.

Loads of players. Malkin, Ovechkin, Datsyuk, Kovalchuk, Quick, Miller, Suter, Parise, Kane, Zetterberg, Karlsson, Ekman, Lundqvist, Rinne, Niemi would all be pretty much guaranteed to make the team. A number of other players (Markov, Sedins, etc.) would have a decent shot as well.

Don't see Zetterberg as a lock. I think Parise, Hossa can fill his role a little better.
Kovalchuk is top 6 or nothing and I don't see him beating out any of the 4 wingers anymore. Sedin's, no. Markov, even more of a no.

If you do a world team, there will be at least two completely equivalent, and possibly 3...

Team World might not contain many Canadians period. In a Team World vs Team Canada, I think I go Team World

Ovechkin - Crosby - Stamkos
Zetterberg - Datsyuk -Tavares
D. Sedin - Toews - Kane
Kessel - Malkin - St. Louis

Karlsson- Suter
Chara - Pieterangelo
Weber - Doughty

Rask
Niemi
Quick

(Kessel obv homer pick)

Zetterberg would easily make team Canada. Canada is somewhat lacking in defensive wingers, with those roles to be filled by centres generally. Zetterberg is elite in that role, has international experience and is having a great year. Kovalchuk is definitely a top 6 natural winger for Canada, especially considering how comfortable he is on big ice. I agree that the Sedins probably don't make it, but they wouldn't be out of place. Markov would get consideration as 7th defenceman. Canada lacks elite LHD and could especially use one for the PP.

Parise and Hossa do that role too though.
Kovalchuk isn't as good anymore. Ovechkin, P.Kane, Parise takes his spot. He also doesn't beat out Stamkos, Tavares, St Louis.
Suter and OEL would be added, so no need for another LHD. I like Jay-Bo on the real team and I would easily take him over Markov. Markov is maybe a top 20 d-man in the league, but not top 10 and we're narrowing it down to the 6/7 best here.

Same thing with Kesler and Giroux and arguably Kesler has played better than Giroux in every way this year.
I do like Hall and I want him on the real team Canada, but Parise is much better defensively, has about the same speed and his offense isn't much lower. Parise would be great as Crosby's winger, but I also think Hall can too.

Kovalchuk makes team world. Just because you don't play in the NHL anymore doesn't mean you aren't as talented.
