Americans going to CHL next year?

Anyone have a list of all the Americans that will be drafted into the Canadian Hockey League next year which includes the team/s that they played for in the US?

Hard to say right now. Many of those decisions will be made following the draft, when certain NHL teams push their prospects in a certain developmental direction.

Ok. Would you know where I can see last years CHL draft information then?

I doubt he would have been drafted if he wasn't planning on going to the OHL. I bet he talked to the Knights before hand. He comes from the same area in Chicago I am from and played on T.I. two years after I left. He's a good player. I have no idea why he chose UNO

Alex Broadhurst's older brother Terry plays hockey at UNO. Captain of the team in fact. Pretty good reason to want to play there.

Terry Broadhurst

Rumor is that Alex may end up in the OHL because he may be academically ineligible at UNO. The following article was dated in April of this year, and implies he'll be making a decision where to play after the season. Not sure if any updates since then.

Its basically 100%... Jim McKellar just got hired this season by the Blackhawks, he's been an assistant gm in London for years now. Broadhurst getting taken that early had McKellar written all over it. The Knights also own the rights to a few other players on the Green Bay Gamblers so they might be hoping they come with him too.

The Winterhawks have these Americans signed.I'm not sure if there will be room for Bittner and Turgeon both to make it as 16 yo or if they will have to wait till they are 17.

Paul Bittner

Keegan Iverson

Alex Schoenborn

Dominic Turgeon

Seth Jones

Also other American players on the Hawks list that have a good chance to make the team in the next few years if they choose to play in the WHL instead of college.

Ryan Norman

Fredrick Olafsson(a Swede but now lives in Colorado)

Keoni Texiera

Caleb Jones

Ethan Price

This will be interesting with the new Q draft rules. They're obviously trying to get more kids from the US to come play with the rules so we'll find out who's contemplating it by where they're picked. Don't see a lot of pure studs in the '96 draft year who aren't USNTDP bound or solidly college committed so they'll have an uphill battle for those, especially with what happened with Shea this year. Now next year with the 97 eligible players, it will be very very interesting because that year has loads of high end talent and all the draft kinks will be worked out

On the otherhand, Coyle went up and tore up the Q being a 19 year old. Wouldn't be surprised to see a few other 18/19 yr olds go up after they're drafted.

Will be interesting to see if teams in the Q use some early/mid round picks on US kids or just wait until they have to pick them in the later rounds where they don't have to risk picks on kids who will never come up.
