Ryan Shannon Signs Three Year Deal With Swiss ZSC Lions

Surprised he was not able to stick around, I know he had fans on Hfboards rooting for him

Very fast and quite skilled, just not big enough for the NHL.He would be a star in the NHL and making 3-5 million/year if he were 6'3, 210 pounds. Assuming the the Swiss League is less physical than the NHL, I believe he could thrive there. Good luck!

I wonder if we have any more players that are too small for the NHL?

LOL.

Or any that are too bad at ice hockey for the NHL?

Maybe the Sens should just sign Boris Valabik, John Scott and Joe Finley to insert into the lineup over Karlsson.

That way you can cream yourself over the big, manly NHL players while the Sens finish dead last.

Ryan Shannon has established that he can play in the NHL.
Is he a star? No.

He's chosen to go make a quarter to half a million a year and have a great lifestyle over in Europe instead of battling for minutes in the NHL. This somehow is a validation of your disregard for smaller NHL players? Pretty weak.

I had nothing against him personally but his fanboys on here led me to resent him a great deal

A more suitable league for him. At this point i would take a Euro trip and play for as many teams around Europe as i can

I'm surprised Shannon couldn't find a deal anywhere in the NHL (maybe the Swiss League pays more?). What holds him back from being a great third liner is his lack of finishing. He's Condra-esque in that regard.

Nonetheless, I wish him success with the Lions.

**** yea. If I was a fourth liner in the NHL who has been around long enough to show he isn't going to improve, I would go to Switzerland for a couple years for the same paycheck

Randomly exploded into an All-Star in meaningless games, causing our draft pick to slide. In both 2009 and 2011.
