Luke Richardson Named Head Coach Of Binghamton Senators

Joy Lindsay‏@PSBJoyOnTheSens

#BSens announce that they will make a major announcement tomorrow at a 3 p.m. news conference ... #Sens

SensChirp‏@SensChirp

Bingo presser could be head coach announcement. Seems like a quick turnaround unless they are promoting from within (Stirling, Richardson)

Steve Lloyd‏@Steve_Lloyd

Coach? Affiliation deal? MT @PSBJoyOnTheSens #BSens will make a major announcement tomorrow at a 3 p.m. news conference ... #Sens

Joy Lindsay‏@PSBJoyOnTheSens

News conference at the BCVMA tomorrow is for #Sens to announce new head coach of #BSens.

Tweets were from today, I've edited the title to be accurate.

I think they're going to go with Dave Cameron. You know, past success and all that.

Heh.

My Guess:

Luke Richardson - Head Coach
Steve Sterling - remains as Assistant Coach

If true, expect Bingo to be a much tougher team.

Joy is tweeting that the Phantoms coach has been relieved of his duties and I guess she's insinuating he is a candidate.

Forgive the ignorance, but why are we saying a coaching announcement is probable? If SensChirp is right that Sens brass are on hand for the announcement, isn't this likely more related to renewing the arena lease/relationship?

Hope it's both, though!

This.

The renewing of the affiliation between the Sens and Bingo makes the most sense. I think the holdup was on the B-Sens renewing their arena lease so my guess would be that it's that combo.

They wouldn't have found a new coach this quickly if it wasn't Luke Richardson.

Most likely option is Stirling being promoted to HC given his past head coaching experience (both in AHL and NHL).

Joy Lindsay now tweeting that the press conference is to announce a new coach.

Agree - must be internal, then.

Stirling is too old with no upside for the job. You want to put a guy in the AHL who can develop your youngsters while developing his coaching talents.

Plus with his health problems is he really up to taking over full time? I don't think Luke is ready, but stranger things have happened and its clear he wanted the job pretty badly.

It might be nice for Luke to get out of Kanata for a while, take a break from coaching Lady Sens.

Does this mean Alfie is going to be the Assistant Coach next year?
