Custom goalie mask

Hey goalies,

What would be the price to get a custom goalie mask ? I guess it depends on the painter. I've made a few search and found Dave Gunnarson ( www.daveart.com ) who seems to be on top of the business. Do you have an idea of his pricing range ?

Or do you know some more average artist who can do the job at decent price too ?

My brother used to be a goalie and had a mask painted by Troy Lee to match Curtis Joseph old mask. Awesome job. This was about 15 years ago and cost a couple grand.

From the guy who has painted for Tim Thomas, Cam Ward, and John Quick:

Quote:
3) WHAT ABOUT COST AND HOW DO I PAY FOR EYECANDYAIR ART?
Original hand painted, custom airbrush painted goalie mask concepts START at $600.00 CDN, airbrushing for goalie mask backplates and skull caps start at $100.00. Other canvasses vary and are accepted on a very limited basis.
The price of your design is largely determined by the amount of detail, intricacies and time it will take to render the artwork and complete your request. For example, a PRO-style, bold graphic design airbrush painted on your goalie mask would be less expensive than semi-realistic portraiture and tribute style art. It's not about how many colours are in your design, it's about how much detail your paint job entails and how long it will take Steve render the art.

custom painted or custom made?

custom made you can get one from protechsports at about 600 bucks

custom painted i'd check out leblanc designs... if you are short on cash you can always get vinyl graphics for 25 bucks. their felix potvin style vinyls are a thing of beauty

Try to find an amateur looking to build a portfolio if what you want isn't too complex.

CMIIW but custom painted masks today are still done using airbrush paint or its variations, right?

And this costs $1000+ over there? Yowza.

This. I've had my racing and welding helmets done by guys building a base, each time, and never payed much, if anything. They were always happy to have someone "trust" them to build up a rep.

Over here you can get less than $300 for really good ones, and this is the price for custom motorcycle paints. I'm sure for helmets it'll cost less.
