Personally I don't "hate" or even "dislike" Dustin Brown, but I don't like a few of the things he does.
"diving" is not the same as "embellishing".
I saw one dive in this series, and it was Hanzal who made it look like he got clipped in the face when he clearly didn't. THAT is a dive.
Brown makes a hit/contact look worse than it was...but he DID get hit. THAT is embellishment. People seem to confuse the two words. Brown obviously embellishment, but he doesn't "dive" as many posters accuse him of. Diving is MUCH worse than embellishing in this sport.

He scores, he hits, he chirps, gets under the skin and into the heads of opposing teams, and draws more penalties than any other player in the league.

Basically, he's a guy you want on your team.

My mom buys the same organic mushrooms that Dustin Brown's wife feeds him for dinner. That's why I hate him. He's eating all of my mushrooms.

dive/embelling are terrible. Prefer if Brown didn't do it. But what about that Penner tap to the coyote's leg and the guy goes down like he's shot? I don't remember who it was, but it happened the last game. That was a dive too

I would LOVE to have Brown on my team. He's such a beast. One of my favorite players that isn't on the Devils.

Brown has had this reputation from beforehand.

And I did see a nice dive by Stoll when Doan gave him a shot in earlier in the series.

There were dives and embellishments on both sides, Brown gets more of the hate because he's been able to do more than that, he's been a physical force and an offensive force. See Kesler vs Nashville last year.

People also have different definitions of Diving vs Embellishing. Diving to me is falling down to get a call, embellishing is all of the head snaps and acting that players do to get calls.

As an outsider that didn't care who won the series, I don't see a huge issue with the hit. If one of the Oilers did the hit, I'd cheer. If it happened to an Oiler, I'd be upset with them for crossing the centre of the ice in the opposing teams end with their head down. Keep your head up boys!

There's a big difference between selling a call like Brown frequently does and feigning heart attacks and broken necks like half the vancouver canucks do on a regular basis.

Looks like he broke his ankle on the play too. Props to him for getting up and continue play.

Both are bad. Diving I'd say is a little worse. Brown is really 'good' at embellishing.
Whatevs, its on the refs to call. He can embellish all he wants. If they don't call them, I don't
see why he would stop.

If Brown feels a stick between his legs, he skates really hard and goes down hard. That's not diving. That's smart.

If he gets checked, he goes down easily, but why take more punishment trying to stand in there? He might go down "easily" but he really did get crosschecked.

I don't see the somersaults or looking like he got shot and he never whines to the refs about it. That makes him a far cry from some of the antics shown by Vancouver and Phoenix.

Also, he hits like a freight train and people get injured sometimes on his CLEAN checks (note the constant lack of a penalty being called). Brown got Rosival shoulder, hip and knee. It's unfortunate that Rosival was injured and I hope he doesn't need surgery or anything, but that hit is legal.

Pure and simple, people hate Brown because when he checks someone legally, they usually retaliate illegally.

Fans of 29 other NHL teams would love to have that guy on their team. Hate him all you want but at least have the stones to admit that you'd take him on your team.

When Brown is on his game and bringing it to the other team (hitting, skating, scoring), I think he is a quintessential hockey player.

The probelm is that when the other team responds, he reminds me more of a soccer player - and that cheapens the game.

scoring goals and drawing penalties. I would give him the Conn Smythe over Quick right now. Has absolutely stepped up his game this post season.
