I could see Burke going after him if the contract is reasonable.

I think it would be $3.8M/3 years. That's reasonable, given his performance over the last few years. He was good in these playoffs but not excellent by any stretch. Coupled with a few years of extremely poor play, he won't be getting a pay raise or if he does, he'll be another Komisarek-esque cap dump problem.

Someone will pay for him. Look at what Cole got coming off a weak season. That signing worked out pretty well for the Habs even though I thought it was ridiculous when it was announced. Big bodies with skill are a valuable commodity. I'm guessng 3 years 14 million if he wants to go to the highest bidder. Less if he wants to stay in LA. I do assume that he goes to the highest bidder though, he did leave Anaheim for Edmonton right after the Ducks won the cup.

Someone will pay him more than that. You don't have that many big bodies available who can play in your top 9. Jokinen, Gaustad, Bertuzzi, Jagr and Stoll are the list. It's likely Bertuzzi and Jagr re-up with their current clubs. If you need a big top 9 winger your only real option is probably Penner as Jokinen. Stoll and Gaustad are all centermen.

2 years, 5 million from some poor team who will regret it for most of the regular season and be overjoyed with his playoff performance.

Some team will take a gamble. I htink he will get 4.5 for two years.
Penner credited Sutter for his turnaround. I think he would be smart to take a discount to stay with Sutter, have a good full year and then sign for big bucks next year.

I think a team will be overpaying him for about 4 years at 4 million and will regret it. He's a very lazy player a lot of the time and only shows up towards the end of his contract/in the playoffs. I wouldn't mind him on the Blackhawks if it was for only 1 year, 3 million.

He could earn a crepe more than his last deal but I reckon he'll go to around 4 years, $16m.

Not taking a shot at Leafs people, yeah, Burke will give him his near 5 million dollars.
He'll end up getting paid all kinds of money he didn't deserve with his regular season play.

That's a reasonable contract, however, when's the last time Burke got someone for a steal on the UFA market?
12.3$/3 year deal.

If he signs in LA, it'll be for 3.5-4.5m. If he becomes a UFA I see 5m+.

Not that I think he's worth it, but because he's a big bodied guy who's had some success previously and just had a nice playoff cup run. And it's a crappy UFA market, so someone will pony up and pay him.

He is not taking a pay cut. I would not be surprised to see him wait until parise and semin are off the market before he makes a decision. Even if he stays in LA, he will get at least 4m.

I bet he makes 4M plus in free agency, some team out there will overpay him. Unless he takes a discount to stay in LA.

Did not know he said that. His situation is going to be interesting. He will get some decent offers and probably some kind of offer from LA if they miss out on parise
