Jesus, you're quick.

Great signing. I don't care the price.

You should. If they're giving him 7mil a year, it doesn't look like that good of a signing anymore. Not that I think they are giving him THAT much, but they've been known to open the wallet a little too wide on occasion.

Waiting for dollars, but I like him and want him around. Cap hit shouldn't be bad.

He's the right type of guy to sign. I hope this means Boll is finally gone.

Different roles. Boll's fate probably wasn't tied to anything related to Dorse.

This just proves Howson isn't his own man and caved in to the fans.

Your comment doesn't mean anything in regard to my response. Since they have different roles, look for other players to fill in Boll's if they want to part ways.

Clear?

This. Boll and Dorse are not the same kind of player.

2009 was a couple of years back. We might have some working on outdated material.

Hopefully Dorse continues to progress and bring a bit more offense to his agitating skills. Maybe he is next year's David Clarkson?

Anyway, good for him. Nice to see a guy who leaves it on the ice every shift earn his just reward.

Dorsett's deal is 3 years, $4.9 million. Breakdown: $1.5 million in 12-13; $1.4 million in 13-14; $2.0 million in 14-15, his first UFA year.

What, he's going to have a slight off year in 13-14?

Probably a slight overpayment, but that is in part for purposes of continuity and leadership, I'd presume.

If Dorse is getting that much, I have to wonder what Mackenzie is worth.

1.5 sounds about right, 2.0 sounds a bit high. Hope he continues to get better.

Just a guess, maybe 12-13 has some kind of a signing bonus up front included in the total.

Congrats to Dorse, the boy who plays like he forgot to take his meds!

I was happy to see him take fewer stupid, poorly timed penalties. Of course being the NHL's PIM leader, he still managed to mix it up from time to time. He seemed a little smarter on the ice this year.

Does fantastic work off the ice in the community, too.

Last summer, I'd have been in the move him camp. He won me over bit by bit this season. I don't mind the terms, either.

I hope with his new contract came a stipulation that Dorsett fight less. I would say not at all, but that's not realistic with his style of play. If he can be more like Steve Ott I'd be ecstatic. 30+ points, ~5-7 fights, ~150 PIMs would be ideal. 19 fights for a guy his size making that money is just plain stupid.

Looks like an overpayment for his production, but when you throw in other factors, it's about right. 1.3 or 1.6 per year isn't that big of a difference I guess, I had him pegged at about 1.2-1.3 personally.
