Does JMFJ get his name on the cup?

If (when) the Kings win the Cup, does Jack MFing Johnson get his name on the Stanley Cup?

...and how about this,.

Would that make him the 1st person playing for Blue Jackets to get his name on the cup while actually being on the Blue Jackets?

Has any other player trade to Blue Jackets during the season had their former team win the cup that same year?

Has any player traded from the Blue Jackets during the year gone on to win the cup that year with their new team?

I don't think so, if he does he should only be allowed to use 2/3 of the letters in his name.

I liked the old rule better - Why should a guy get his name on the Cup when he doesn't play in the Cup? I can understand a guy like Savard who was out with an injury but a guy you traded?

Interesting... I never thought of the rules pertaining to the names on the cup, I'm with EspenK.

Nope.

Can't find a working link but you have to still be on the roster. As an example, Cam Barker, who played 51 games with Chicago before being traded to Minnesota the year they won the cup, didn't get his name on the cup.

The team submits the list. All the people on the list are then checked against the rules. The Kings aren't going to submit Jack Johnson.

Thank you for browsing around, I would be surprised but with no knowledge of the subject I would simply guess no...

That makes sense because Johnson,Barker, etc was no longer part of the winning organization so why should their names be on the Cup? Why would you want your name on the Cup like that anyhow?

The rules to get your name on the Cup/get a ring from the NHL was 41 regular season games played(could have been more games) or 1 appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals. A team can ask the NHL to add a player(Marc Savard-Bruins, Vladimir Konstantinov-Wings, etc) and the NHL will approve or deny the teams request. If you don't qualify to get your name on the Cup/get a ring from the NHL, I think the owners can pay for rings to give to players.

*I think the NHL has the specific amount of games/1 Cup appearance rule to cut down on having names on the Cup. I think I heard that they're having a issue now and might have to build another Cup. I don't think they want to add another section to the current Cup.

When the Hawks won the Cup, they sent Dale Tallon a ring and had his name added onto the Cup. Tallon built the team but was fired and was part of the Panthers organization when the Hawks won. If I was Tallon, I don't know what to think of this.

Once all of the lower rings are filled they retire the oldest ring and add a new blank ring.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought HELL YEAH! NEXT SEASON IS ON!

But then I read the first post and my Boomer started to deflate.

btw... how is our little beercan-in-a-wheechair buddy? Anybody seen him?

HF should really start a campaign to "bring back boomer".

We could give him a hockey-stick buddy called "Woody",
and a puck-buddy called "Pucker".

I fully endorse this statement.

(Also, welcome! Hope you can stick around. Fair warning: you'll hear a lot of people telling you that I'm misguided and should never be listened to; they should be ignored as the fools they are. )

After Maclean was fired the first thing to go was R&R Part two... the best sport music score in history and still used by dozens of professional sport teams to this day! Forget Boomer, hell, even the Gladiator trailer "truth and honor" was scrapped due to the thought of blood and guts.
