This show needs to have less "awwwww the group loves each other so much" and more random community college stuff. All the inside jokes annoy me - how is someone supposed to get into the show when 95% of the jokes are only understood if you've watched the show before?
That's exactly what I complained about in the previous threads. I wrote about it at length actually - the whole gooey, gushy, we love each other aspect of it is a massive detriment to the show.
That IS the Harmon crowd. Do you think the transsexuals and tumblr artists of ****** number more than 1.1 million? Hardly. They're just the whiny, obnoxiously loud vocal minority that essentially steered the show off the cliff with demands for fan-service and inside jokes.
I've written at length about the problems of Community in the Part Three thread but in short it's all the inside jokes, the professor spacetime, the halloween specials, the god-damned dean, the dumbing down of characters, the post-ironic huggy feel good moments at the end of every episode, the complete lack of self-awareness (or too much self-awareness?)... the show is a parody of itself now but since what it's mocking is so kitschy and lame, the method it parodies itself is even lamer.
Pierce hugging Gus Fring at the end of the last episode was ridiculous on multiple plains.
My feeling is that even the Harmon crowd doesn't like that stuff. And I don't think anyone who loves Dan Harmon's impact on the show was defending that aspect of season 3, personally. I might consider myself part of that crowd and I hate that stuff.
That was the least Community like episode yet out of all 3. A bit boring tbh, they do the emotional-y stuff at the end but they did it through the whole episode. Winger's lost his touch or "swag" or whatever word they use. Troy's the only one who still says funny crap. It probably had more of that mass appeal they were looking for I guess.
