I find it hard to believe that 18M+ people watched BBT and 4 M watched Community. Those numbers seem very very off.

I will admit that BBT was fairly solid last night but that show has annoyed me since season 2, I enjoy watching the characters on Community.

While definitely different, I didn't find last night's episode to be any worse than average episodes in the past. If someone wanted to compare it to the best episodes in the show's run, it wouldn't measure up - but was it demonstrably worse than average episodes from the Harmon era? Not at all, IMO.

I can't for the life me understand how anybody can actually like Big Bang Theory or Two and Half Men. Makes no sense, even if you couldn't see the jokes coming from a mile away (you can) and delivery wasn't horrible (it is) and it wasn't years of the same crap based on the original unfunny premise (it is), the jokes aren't even ****ing funny. Two of the worst shows to ever grace the small screen.

Then great shows like Community have their creator dumped, Arrested Development is cancelled, etc, etc. I can never understand how people can soak up the same **** again again again like BBT/2AHM when it was terrible the first time around, while legitmately smart and funny shows go by the wayside. Urgh!

On the ep, I am still unsure what to expect out of this season. Did not like ABed TV thing, we've been in Abed's head enough. Seemed like an excuse to cut Chevy Chase's role almost, IMO. We'll see how it goes, but the Dean being Jeff's neighbour and Chang's scene at the end were the only really funny parts of the ep, IMO.

Season 3 was hard to watch, after seeing last night's episode, I doubt I'll even watch the rest of season 4 unless there's absolutely nothing on and I turn to Hulu as my last resort

Final ratings were adjusted up a tenth, so it debuts at 1.8, which is only 0.1 (approx 125k viewers) behind Parks & Rec and 0.2 behind The Office.

Wow, I was expecting better. Community is by far my favourite tv show still on the air. But this premiere was...below average.

Thanks for posting that article. Good read. Yeah, I would agree with you on it being horrid. By the end of the show I thought they might go looking for Spock's brain.

But I am glad to hear that some people liked it. Just wasn't for me. And I am a die hard fan, have each season's dvd set.

I don't know what to make of that episode. The storylines of each character were a lot more separate than what they normally are. I guess tha way it's easier to pick and choose what I liked and didn't like. I thought the funniest scene was Troy and Britta at the wish fountain. However, I don't like that they are a couple. Just doesn't feel right. As And y Greenwals at Grantland put it, that stuff used to be a lot more subtle.

Anyways, I thought Jeff's storyline was good. Even though the Dean character is way too over the top, I still laughed. Abed TV did not make me laugh, neither did Annie and Shirley's pranks. Pierce trying to think of a joke about balls was dumb.

That season opener was not noticeably any better than a typical episode of the Big Bang Theory, IMO, so I don't know what you guys are complaining about.

Ugh, still weird. The best part of the episode was the Asian girl. Dayum.

Also, the Dean is too freakishly ripped. Guy needs to add a percentage or two in body fat.

The **** like AbedTV is what's been ruining Community from the end of season 2 to season 3.

Community often feels like one big inside joke... that no one is part of. Except ix.

This episode was awful. I've defended the show through some pretty low points last season but weird for the sake of weird is not funny. It used to be clever, but now its obvious they are out of ideas and just think by going over the top it is funny, but its not funny, its stupid, and the fact that it is being passed off as intellectual is plain insulting.

Definitely a weak premiere. Other comedy shows were way better this week. That's the problem with Community. It's too inconsistent in terms of quality week in week out and the show itself is so farfetched no one finds it appealing.

Absolutely. I was pretty infuriated and disgusted watching them try.

But it's not "running out of ideas" if the staff got replaced and this is the first one.

Not a bad introductory episode for the season. Outside of the Abedtv stuff I thought it was pretty good.

Also, I absolutely <3 Annie.

I was worried at the start of the episode when I heard that laugh track.

I just discovered community on Netflix about 3 months ago, and tore through all 3 seasons in about 2 weeks, I love this show. But I thought the season opener was pretty bad.

Man, I wish the US Netflix had Community.
I tried my cousin's hulu+ subscription, but it's unbearable. Even with +, they still have like 5 minutes of ads for every 7 minutes of show.

^ Try 1channel.ch, there's a plug-in for it on XBMC. Or you can subscribe to UnblockUS for $5/month and watch British or Nordic or Mexican and I'm assuming Canadian Netflix which has Community.

Anyways, why haven't I ever seen this before? This is awesome:
