Those of us that were actually old enough to appreciate the rivalry while it was happening, will hate the Dead Wings for the rest of our life. Everyone I know here in Denver who is a die hard Avs fan feels the same way.
I, too, live in Denver, and I have not found this to be the case.

I've got a lot of respect for Lindstrom, but he's been on the bad guys side for so long that's it's hard for Avs fans to like him. lol
I still hate the Redwings.
But I hate the Canucks even more.
Exactly my feelings on this. I still hate the Redwings for the rivalry that was, but currently, all avs fans should definitely hate those dirtbag POS diving whining canucks more.
I'd rather watch the canucks become a dynasty than watch Detroit win it again.
amen
I wouldn't mind the Canucks at all if they got rid of Luongo. That's the only guy on that team I really can't stand (basically because all Van fans think he's some sort of god - or at least they did at one time).

More like those of you who won't let go of the past - the select few that the Avalanche organization unfortunately caters to when it refuses to hire outside "the family".
It's just funny because you rarely see any Red Wings fans that care whatsoever about the Avs. They've moved on, they see the Avs and their fans as the little bothersome tick that won't go away.

I have a lot of friends from Detroit that get riled up for the rivalry all of the time. They're usually more fanatic about it that I am.
I think it just breeds from all the people in Denver that have moved here from Detroit. As I always say to them - if Detroit is that freaking great...then move back. That usually shuts them up.

You're one of those "glass half empty" kind of guys, right?

The "select few"? All Avs fans that I know, who have been fans since '95, and have also lived in Colorado since then, feel the same way towards the Wings. It's part of our Avalanche culture here in Colorado. Obviously the Red Wings hate is stronger in certain demographics than it is others. Many don't hate all of the individual players, but hate the Red Wings team/organization as a whole, and for no other reason except that they were once our greatest rival. Which was the biggest rivalry in the NHL at the time. Personally I hate Bertuzzi and McCarty, and could care less about the rest of their players, past or present.
The Wings have been the Avs only true rivals so far. It's not a matter of letting go of the past . It's recognizing and appreciating our team's history... Maybe you were too young to realize how epic that rivalry truly was.
Care to explain how the Avalanche organization has catered to fans with these opinions by not hiring outside of the 'family'? That idea is
Back in the 90's I absolutely hated anything Red Wings. Now, I dislike them mainly because of Bertuzzi. I will never root for the Red Wings and will always dislike the team. The Canucks are the Red Wings of the 90's for me. Can't stand anything about the Canucks. The fans, the team, their play; just don't like them one bit.

My biggest issue with the Canucks is the fans. Anyone who can defend Bertuzzi and blame Moore for the incident doesn't deserve to watch their team have any success.
Everyone always argues hockey and the Avs merits/player abilities/etc on this board, but you're going to find 90% of us hate Detroit and we're always united in that regard
Its kin of like that kid you fought in elementary school, and hated but you grew older and more respectful towards eachother despite having a little ball of hate burried deep inside. Ps i do love me some JT

Most of the people who support Bertuzzi are just retards who buy into the whole "frontier justice" garbage.
