Best Run Franchise In The NHL

While I still hope my Rangers can pull out the series, The Devils really need to be commended on what they have put together since 1993 - 1994.

They are a team with limited resources, and yet still for nearly the past 2 decades have been a consistent cup threat.

While their financial staff may be worst in the league, their hockey operations people have to be the best in all of sports;

For the past 18 years the Devils have:

3 Stanley Cups

4 Conference Titles

Won 9 Division Titles

Over 100 pts 13 out of 18 Seasons

15 out of 18 years had more then 95 pts in the season, with one of the years below 95 being a strike shortened season which they won the cup

Am I jealous? Hell Yeah who wouldn't be, especially when teams like my Rangers, Toronto, Montreal, who have unlimited resources fail to find this type of consistency.

The Devils have historically been rated as one of the best franchises by Forbes, and virtually all of their current debt load is tied to the arena.

And a salary cap means ALL teams have the same resources now.

You better get ready with a flame hat, because people don't like backhanded compliments around here...

Wait, according to the Rangers fan I just met yesterday, the Devils' organization sucks, always has sucked, and always will suck.

In all seriousness, Lou's just a ****ing genius.

/thread.

Serious question, the person complemented the organization, why can't we just say "thank you"?

I actually see the Rangers organization with the limited resources....Look at Sather and try and tell me that their isn't a shortage of brain power there?

Still have to give the nod to the Red Wings. What Devellano and Holland built is simply unbelievable.

Wouldnt it be a gas if both the Devils and Spurs win this year. 7 years ago they were both "best run franchises" that has fallen off in the past few years.

Holland was handed a put together team with a Hall of Fame Coach. Go look at his team when he took over as GM....It was a Cup caliber team led by Scotty Bowman....

Look at the New Jersey Devils when Lou took over.

Lou is the most impressive sports executive I've ever and will ever have seen.

At some point the GM of the year award will be the Lou Lamoriello award.

Agreed. Results aside, I still believe we`re definitely in the top5, maybe top3 (all things considered) and I couldn`t be more happy for that.

Detroit is the best IMO. Purchased in the early 1980's for ~$20M, now worth $300M+. Not to mention the on ice success.

I don't think Lou's greatest contribution has been in picking hockey talent, either. His greatest contribution has been in creating an identity that emphasizes family, team first, stability, honor and tradition, all of which has made the Devils a franchise that many players want to play for.

Flyers tried the same jinx thread trick last series facing elimination. Didn't work.

You realize how important a great owner who sets a the right identity is to any franchise. Looks at the Rangers and Dolan specifically - he's invested his 2 franchises in marquee names in Sather and Isiah.......look at the results.

The zamboni driver in Edmonton could have coached that team to at least 5 Stanley Cups.

And for hiring Lou we have Dr McMullen to thank.

I am spoiled by this organization's desire to win. And they know how to win. Detroit's success though can't be matched.

There's a reason so many players want to come back to New Jersey once they've left. Read Jaroslav Spacek's comments on the Habs and their lack of communication. You'd never find something like that here.

Lou has got to be the one of the best GMs ever in professional sports, but the Wings definitely take the cake for the best organization. You simply can't argue against the results.

Well sorry some of you took this the wrong way, even though I am still kind of confused how.

This was not intended to be a back handed compliment, nor do I believe in Magic or Voodoo or jinxes.

I was just admiring the teams the devils have been able to build for the past 18 years
