This isn't some random team of misfits on a cinderella cup run, this a young building team that is on the way up. This is nothing short of a huge overachieving season. With an elite goaling just turning 30 and a young powerhouse defense that only looks to be getting better, how can you not like our chances at being contenders for many years to come?

There are no guarantees though. Look at San Jose and Vancouver! They been very competitive for years, and always look like contenders, but...

This is why you can't be afraid to make moves when the time is right.
This team needs to get a legitmate power play, and a substantial increase in top 6 scoring on the wings. I'm not sold on Stepan as our #2 center just yet. I'm not sold on Anisimov at all.

All with offense, we need more muscle and contribution from the bottom six. I guy like Ott or a similiar player would be great here.

We're almost there. This is a great time to be a Ranger fan, regardless of what happens this tomorrow and Sunday...

I'm not so sure. This is Lundqvist's best season ever and it could go to waste.

What happened to that Chicago team that won the cup a couple of yeara ago? Kane, toews, Hugh Ken, sea brook, Campbell, etc etc...it's a crap shoot every year in terms of being back here..making the playoffs I agree ww should do consistently

and then what? his career is over at 30? Sorry but a team that can barely score 2g is what this version of the rangers is right now. that's not a good recipe for sucess.

Lundqvist is having his best season as a ranger, largely because of playing less (finally), something i'm sure the coaching staff will employ form now on, but aside from that, we've had a big improvement in the defense in front of lundqvist.

They are just getting burned out from over 100g of low offense. It's killing them. Offense is our #1 priority.

Come July we'll be celebrating our latest offensive aquisitions! Can't wait!

Going into next season they need to make adjustments. The bottom 6 needs an injection of skill. Boyle and Prust need to play on the 4th line. Anisimov should be 3rd line center, too inconsistent for top 6. Hagelin should play on the 3rd line too. I'd trade Gaborik in a heartbeat for young talent ala Richards/Carter deals. I'd even field offers for Dubinsky. Defense make a tweak or 2, Bickel see ya, they need a 2nd pairing guy badly, this will allow MDZ to play 3rd pair. Few tweaks and let's do it!

what happened was they couldn't resign alot of their players, plus they really don't have great goaltending. They're semi competitive, but no longer a top team.

My issue with Boyle is that I think its too much of temptation for Torts to give him 3rd line minutes. I think Boyle can work in limited minutes/pk specialist role.

But, I think Sather would be wiser to move him completely. Prust can stay for the sole purpose he has wheels and has some(however minimal)skill with the puck.

They ****ed up their contracts and had to re-sign their guys at market rare causing them to gut the team

Tie for most among BUF, NJ, PIT, CAR, DET, PHI, SJS, and CHI all with 3 since 2001. 24 different teams have made the conference finals since 2001.

Thank you. Finally someone with some sense. We're not Detroit, so I expect our window of opportunity to be fairly small.

Buffalo surprised me..do you think their fans are happy with 3 final 4s in 10 years but no Cup?

Would we be? I won't..we have tp seize the day..

Seize tomorrow!

When you get this close like the Rangers are anything short of winning the Stanley Cup would be a disapointment in my eyes

July, you pursue any one of Nash, Parise, Ryan...
plus you bring in maybe Shane Doan ...

another vet defenseman, maybe another banger for the bottom six...

you're in business.

I feel exactly the same way especially since we are the top seed. I would feel differently if we were playing the Pens or the Bs.

I guess the cap doesn't apply to us or you are assuming the new CBA has no cap.

we're losing salary, we're already rumored to be in the running for Parise who is just $$. Another move or two via trades...

2-3 moves is highly possible.

It takes alot of luck and the chips falling in the right places to make a run.

That happened for us this year, so I see the OP's point.

But you never know either way.

would love to have Doan on this team......but there is pretty much Zero chance he leaves Phoenix. He's loved and revered there...and is the face of that Franchise.

Parise, Ryan, Nash is the order I would prefer.....

Would explore if someone like Iginla is even available

Why does everyone always want a big name on this team? Why not just sign a consistent 25 goal scorer and call it a day? Why ruin the future signing guys like Parise for 7-8 mil when that will just make signing our RFAs in the future alot more difficult. Why sign Parise for 8 mil when you can get two 25 goal scorer for 3.8-4 mil each? Ugh

I used to prefer Parise but not so sure anymore. Parise fits the system and could do very well. But I think we need a player like Rick Nash. He's a big forward who can score goals on his own, and in any situation. Depending on the price, I want Nash on this team. He is a difference maker on offense, which is where we need the help.

Although, I won't say no to Parise....

OP is a Met fan, as am I, so you have to understand his state of mind. The teams that followed 06 ripped our hearts out, we're still comatose from all the bad that's followed since. We expect the absolute worst.

That said, this isn't the Mets, we're younger and deeper than the Mets ever were during the last decade.

LGR!
