Handy-dandy Kings infographic

Quote:
In a tongue-in-cheek nod to some of the local TV stations that can’t seem to figure out where the Kings play, what their logo looks like, how the players’ names are pronounced, what type of equipment is used and what the mascot looks like, the Kings put together this relatively awesome infographic to…help. It’s too big to post directly here, but click below to check it out.
The graphic: http://kings.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=632297

God I love their non-conservative ways.
So much better than some of the chair rocker teams in this league.

That's hilarious.

How can the LA media be so clueless about a team that's played there continuously for nearly a half-century?!?

Hahaha, pretty sweet, especially "years LA Kings have either played in Sacramento, thought about playing in Sacramento, or invested in a feasibility report on a potential move to Sacramento: 0"

I'm sure the way the Kings are acting will inspire the LA media to pay more attention...ummm, NOT! The unprofessional nature of their media department will only turn off the media that they're insulting.

I think it's comical that the news can get things so botched up so as a fan I laugh at it instead of getting offended by it.

However, if the local media doesn't want to be "insulted" by the Kings, then the news stations should get their crap together so they don't have to be called out by the Kings. The Sacramento Kings logo thing has happened more than once. Is it that hard to look at the logo you are putting in your graphic, realize it says SACRAMENTO and has a basketball in it, and spend 30 seconds to fix it? Or if you're looking for a shot of the Kings mascot, try doing a search for "LA Kings mascot" and not just "Kings mascot". It's not like the sports report is breaking news where you're going to rush to put something together to go on the air. One thing that didn't get a big play is the night before I believe it was game 3, Jim Hill, the sports guy on CBS said that the Kings were going to be playing the San Jose Sharks in the game the next night. It's a lack of effort/not caring. I've seen the ABC station use the shield logo twice in the last week and the Kings haven't used that for almost a decade as a primary logo. I'll forgive them not pronouncing Kopitar's name right since that's not an easy name to say.

As for the media being insulted, CBS anchorman Paul Magers and Busty McGee, I mean weather anchor Jackie Johnson were at game 4 and NBC anchor Colleen Williams is a Kings fan as well. I'm guessing they feel more embarrassed for the organizations they work for than the Kings calling them out on it. They're lazy mistakes made by the behind the scenes people.

To be fair, Jim Hill also said yesterday that hockey players are the nicest and easiest players to deal with from a sports anchor standpoint.

As I go about my day in So Cal, when I search out any Kings news from media, I will hear or see 1 error every day or two, or some kind of slight (like playing bits from "Laker player exit interviews" instead of talking about the only team still playing at Staples Center).

A few days ago a news radio station did an interview with "Kings Captain Dustin Penner," and of course Brown was the interview. Hey, I'm just glad they actually talked to any Kings player.

You can't make this stuff up.

It's not just the local media.

The NHL wants to sell you ALEX Kopitar merchandise.

And someone needs to screen cap that before they fix it.

This is my biggest gripe with the local media. We have two major sports radio stations and it is literally Laker talk 90% of the time, 365 days a year (the rest being NFL or Dodger talk with a smattering of UCLA/USC). Was great to hear a Matt Greene interview today, and depressing to have it be about the only King reference in 3 hours worth of 'The Lakers need to trade for Dwight Howard and Deron Williams' calls.

I mean, it's not like the Kings are some new, unknown, upstart team.

After the Original Six, the Kings are one of the oldest teams in the league. They've been playing in LA for multiple generations now.

The fact that the local media remains so ignorant of such an established team is just embarrassing.
