it's very clear that with the addition of a #1 D man the ILs are a playoff team
After this game is finished, come join my game. There are 16 teams available right now, and this is my first time creating a GM game, so let's make it a good one! Anyone can join, experienced GMs to new members, doesn't matter.
^ I like his roster but I think his 3rd and 4th lines are weak for a contender, and his 2nd line is just average. Also he has a great top pair, and his 3rd pair is good for a 3rd pair, but the effectiveness of his 2nd pair hinges on Gardiner's development IMO. Definitely a playoff team.
The leafs are definitely a playoff team with that roster but I don't think it is as impressive as many people think. Joffrey Lupul was great WITH Kessel so I don't think he will be as prolific offensively if he isn't playing with him. Steve Downie isn't exactly a top 6 winter. His point totals were inflated in TB cus of playing with Stamkos and his Avs tenure was a small sample size so there is debate on his positioning. Phaneuf and McDonagh are a terrific shutdown defensive pairing but I don't like how little physicality his defense has. Phaneuf isn't nearly the hitter he used to be though he still gets great hits, McDonagh can play physical, and Fistric as well But he won't play enough to be effective. Gardiner and Gunnarsson is a good 2nd pair but neither is physical and both might be slightly undersized (scrawny).
This is truly an amazing transformation into this lineup and they may very well win 2 or 3 rounds but I just like to have a more physical defensive unit.

But yu have to remember that he started off with the original Leafs roster and turned it into that. Which imo is beast compared to what we have irl.

I understand that, in the last paragraph I said how it was an amazing transformation from the original lineup to that one. I was just stating my philosophy about how I like my defense to have at least 1 physical defenseman on each pairing.
The cap concerns of the Edmonton Oilers have been well represented in this thread, and after much discussion, the following actions will be taken.
1) The Stafford trade is officially vetoed.
2) Lars Eller will be removed from the Edmonton Oilers, and given back to the Calgary Flames, since they have had a chance to match the offer sheet.
3) Their first this year will be forfeited.

EDIT: One half hour to go! Get them in! (And while most people had acceptable votes, two people had some awful, awful rankings. I'll be posting the calculations along with the standings).
